HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -
In a fall that has been known for gorgeous weather with marvelous vacation weeks during the great pandemic, this week has done its best to overshadow September and October.
While it is not as warm as it was in September nor as colorful as it was in October, it is hard to imagine a week this late in the fall sporting weather any better.
Take Thursday when highs made it close to 70 again with the only change from early week weather focused on a milky white sky. High clouds steadily crossed the sky during the afternoon turning the blue skies of early week into a hazier complexion in the heavens.
Those clouds will be gone by dawn so it is back to the blue skies and tepid breezes of a spring in mid fall pattern. Highs will inch toward 70 again with the gentle touch of the breeze (Karen Carpenter 1970s?) adding an April flair.
By the weekend and into early next week, a late season Bermuda High(BH) weather feature will develop. If you are not familiar with the BH just thing of Bermuda shorts and you will have the weather down pat. Saturday’s highs will make it into the mid-70s for Herd fans at the Joan (undefeated 16th rank MU battling the Minutemen from U-MASS with a 2:30 PM kickoff). Ditton Sunday though a tad warmer.
By Monday and Tuesday the likely last 70s highs until next spring will invade with even a shot at hitting 80 degrees on Tuesday.
As for the risk of rain, it is non-existent through the weekend, only the slightest risk early in the new week then increasing to likely by Wednesday as a Midwest front tries to draw some southern moisture in from the Gulf. The intensity, duration and quantity of rain are all in the TBA department with odds favoring not much.
