CAIRO, June 21 (MENA) – Education Minister Tarek Shawqi on Sunday was keen on maintaining contact with the ministry’s main operations room to make sure about abiding by precautionary measures at exam classrooms and preventing gatherings of students and their parents before the schools.
The secondary schools final exams (thanaweya amma) for the academic year 2019/2020 kicked off Sunday at 10 am nationwide with 652,289 students taking the Arab Language exam at 56,591 exam classrooms.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli visited the complex of King Fahd Model Language School in Nasr City to check on the flow of the first day of thanaweya amma exams.
The premier was accompanied by Education Minister Tarek Shawqi, Health Minister Hala Zayed along with Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal.
He called on students to abide by the precautionary measures and medial instructions meant to maintain their safety inside and outside the exam classrooms.
Meanwhile, Madbouli inspected the entrance of students to the school with minister Shawqi expounding the stages of granting students access, which start by passing through disinfection and sterilization gates, handing them face masks and disinfection material as well as plastic bags to cover their shoes.
The operation room of the Education Ministry is following up compliance with precautionary and preventive measures at the classrooms to ensure the safety of students.
The ministry has pleaded with students and their parents not to gather outside schools to maintain their safety.
It said that operations rooms will receive complains and questions about the exams on the following telephone numbers: 27957631- 27941089- 27957305- 27957431- 27957592- 27957628.
