The U.S. Board of Veterans Appeals may have mistakenly rejected some appeals.
The Board said via statement Wednesday it “has learned that a limited number of veterans may have had their Board Appeals forms mistakenly rejected for being untimely.”
To ensure no additional veterans were impacted, the board has requested contact from veterans or families who filed a Decision Review Request: Board Appeal VA Form 10182 with the appeals board between Feb. 19, 2019, and March 23, 2021, and believe it may have been improperly rejected as untimely.
Letters requesting the board “recalculate timeliness” should be sent to: Clerk of the Board, P. O. Box 27063, Washington, DC 20038, or faxed to 844-678-8979.
The letter must include the veteran’s full name, claim number of social security number, date of the rating decision appealed, and date of the original VA Form 10182 that was rejected as untimely.
State Veterans Service Officers can provide needed assistance. The nearest office to Lincoln County is the main office in Jackson, which has five VSOs on staff. The primary number for the Claims Division Main Office is 601-364-7182 and the fax number is 601-364-7226.
A complete list of VSOs and their contact information can be found at https://ift.tt/3gHSlVk.
Letters must be sent no later than March 1, 2022.
