ROCHESTER, NY – RIT (2-0-1) stayed unbeaten in the young season with a 3-1 win over Nazareth College (1-1-1) in game two of the 2021 Doug May Memorial Classic from RIT's Turf Field Sunday evening. Seniors Adam Wuest (Hilton, NY/Hilton) and Cam Shuman (Rochester, NY/Churhcville-Chili) and junior Tommy Reed (Skaneateles, NY/Skaneateles) each scored for the Tigers.
 
Doug May, who passed away in 2003 at the age of 54, coached at RIT for 16 seasons, positioning the Tigers as a perennial contender for the national championship. Under his guidance, RIT made 11 NCAA Tournament appearances, four trips to the Final Four and an appearance in the 1988 Division III title game.

After RIT, May moved on to coach Nazareth College from 1996-2003, leading the Golden Flyers to the Empire 8 co-championship in his final season. He posted a career record of 251-120-38 over the course of 24 seasons, including an incredible 196-56-24 mark at RIT. He was inducted into the RIT Athletics Hall of Fame in 1996.
 
How it Happened

• Wuest gave RIT a 1-0 lead on his goal in the 16th minute on a shot first-time off a Jonathan Cohen (Newton, MA/Newton North) corner kick to give the Tigers the early lead.
• Senior midfielder Cam Shuman (Rochester, NY/Churhcville-Chili) gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead on his first goal of the season in the 31st minute off an assist from Sophomore Garrett Drake (Latham, NY/Shaker).
• Reed made it 3-0 RIT on his goal in the 69th minute off an assist from Zac Salas (Durham, NC/Cross Roads Flex School).
• Dominic Marino scored for Nazareth in the final minute to make it a 3-1 final.

 Game Notes

• Shots were 14-5 in favor of RIT. The Tigers fired 17 shots on target to two for the Mounties.
• The Tigers fired 1three corner kicks to four for the Golden Flyers.
• Senior goalkeeper Guarav Cheema picked up his second win of the season for RIT, making one save.
• Nazareth goalkeeper Logan Menna took the loss in net for the Golden Flyers, making three saves.
