DANVERS, Mass. — Flow Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu of Rockland participated in a two-day tournament to help support funding for cancer research and, at the same time, experienced impressive mat success.

Flow had a large contingent on the two days as children competed on Saturday Nov. 20 and adults on Sunday, Nov. 21.

The Flow results included:

Children: Lyla Tolman — gold. Ayden Moores — silver. Austin White-Ortiz — silver. Rhys Hatch — silver. Olympia Strong — silver. Bryce Gushee-Brown — bronze. Adrian Defoe — bronze. Brayden Strong — bronze.

Adults: Hayleigh Martz — gold. Meg Gleasner — gold. Sandra Martz — silver. Samantha Jones — bronze. Bryan Clement — bronze.

In their first competitions, Dana Jackson and Gabe Barter gained valuable experience as they represented FLOW.

The Tap Cancer Out website states the group is a Jiu-Jitsu-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit raising awareness and funds for cancer fighting organizations on behalf of the grappling community. The organization does this primarily through hosting the “most philanthropic fundraising tournaments in the world,” but also through direct donations and merchandise sales. Since 2011, it has hosted dozens of tournaments and donated more than $2,250,000 to beneficiaries.
