Coming off of what might have been the worst all-around game of the season so far, the Rockies will look to strike back in game two of this three game series in Los Angeles. It’s never easy against the Dodgers who, since 2019, are 26-8 against Colorado. If there’s a man up for the challenge it’d be the Rockies pitcher who’s off to the hottest start, Jon Gray.
Gray (1-0, 1.54 ERA) is coming off of a phenomenal second start against the Diamondbacks, holding them hitless through six innings before allowing one run. In his first start, Gray managed to slow these very same Dodgers to just one run in five innings. Gray’s career numbers at Dodger Stadium aren’t as impressive with a 6.84 ERA and 1.785 WHIP in six starts.
He’ll need better luck than his teammates have had against Corey Seager. Seager is a career .324/.406/.568 hitter in 250 at-bats against the Rockies. This includes 13 home runs and four triples, both the most against any team.
On the mound for the Dodgers will be the 23-year-old gunslinger Dustin May (1-0, 0.00 ERA). May will be making his second start of the young season and will be fresh on eight days rest. In his lone start, May threw six shutout innings with only two hits allowed against the Athletics. He’s a hard throwing righty who’s fastball lives in the upper 90s and will occasionally hit 100mph.
