THE original Charles Ingram cheating episode of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire is set to be repeated in full 19 years after the scandal unfolded - but not on ITV.
ITV suggested that they would air the iconic episode tonight, allowing fans of Quiz to relive the inspiration behind the drama.
The game show's official account tweeted the news on Wednesday, posting: "'80% of the time I'm wrong when I guess, so I'll go Craig David'.
"Watch this story unfold on QUIZ & see everything for yourself on THURSDAY!"
They added a clip of Charles pondering the £32,000 question: "Who had a hit UK album with 'Born To Do It', released in 2000?"
After several minutes of indecision, the disgraced former army Major heard his wife Diana cough after the Craig David option and went for that one.
Charles relied on coughs from fellow contestant Tecwen Whittock and Diana to bag the million pound prize in 2001.
He was also wildly erratic, flip-flopping between answers as he bought time to hear the right answers.
Quiz follows his outrageous true story in an ITV drama.
However, ITV have now insisted the channel will not be where the show airs.
A spokesman said: "There are no plans to air this episode on ITV. There are rumours floating around but this isn’t the case nor in the schedule."
Show bosses became suspicious of Charles midway through the prize-winning show, and acted swiftly in its aftermath to alert the police.
Charles was eventually convicted on a single count of procuring the execution of a valuable security by deception after a lengthy trial.
Viewers have praised Michael Sheen for his "perfect" portrayal of host Chris Tarrant.
Sheen captured Tarrant's voice, mannerisms and even his look and viewers flocked to Twitter to compliment him.
One wrote: "Martin Sheen absolutely brilliant again as Chris Tarrant. To go with his impeccable performance as Brian Clough & sensational David Frost #martinsheen #talent #quiz."
A second shared: "#Quiz Like Millionaire itself this took time to get going, but it's getting intriguing now. The main pleasure was watching the utterly brilliant Michael Sheen as Chris Tarrant."
While a third said: "Obsessed with Michael Sheen’s perfect impersonation of Chris Tarrant in #Quiz. Absolute masterclass."
