Naga Munchetty has hit back at one BBC News viewer after he commented on her choice of footwear.
The BBC Breakfast presenter responded to one viewer who opened a debate on social media asking followers to discuss why she ‘feels the need to wear high-heeled shoes’.
The tweet read: ‘I’m not known for my own sartorial elegance but why would anyone like Naga Munchetty feel the need to wear high-heeled shoes like these on a BBC TV breakfast news programme? Discuss…’
Although following the backlash it caused, the viewer quickly stepped in to apologise for any offence caused.
Taking to Twitter again he responded: ‘Lockdown lesson 1: never, ever tweet about what a presenter wears on TV. Apologies to anyone, especially @BBCNaga, upset by my badly worded comment on her stunning shoes.
‘I’ve been accused of being a white, bald man (true), sexist & racist (not) and a dinosaur (probably). Sorry.’
Naga responded back by simply saying ‘thank you.’

Before the apology, the tweet caused quite a stir on Twitter, leading to Naga to originally respond to the high heel comment, ‘because I want to’.
Other fans and a series of famous faces have stepped in to defend Naga who also applauded her response.
Ex Welsh rugby captain Gareth Thomas said: ‘If I could pull em off then I would deffo wear them!!! Plus she looks amazing, plus so many other things, I’m not understanding this mans point..’
Lenny Henry commented: ‘Them shoes rock hard.’
While Naga’s fellow BBC Breakfast colleague Dan Walker added: ‘Only just seen this. Those shoes are immense Naga You’re clearly getting ideas above your station.’
