Normal People spoilers follow.
Everyone has fallen in love with Normal People.
The BBC Three and Hulu co-production, based on Sally Rooney's best-selling novel of the same name, is airing weekly, but many of you have raced through all 12 episodes – and how could you not?
The story of Marianne and Connell, two County Sligo natives who cross paths in high school and fall into a secret lust affair, is a triumph, and every bit as beautiful, devastating and detail-oriented as the book.
But will we meet Marianne and Connell again?
Here's everything you need to know about Normal People season two.
Normal People season 2 release date: When will it air?
It's impossible to answer this question given that a second season isn't currently on the cards, at least not for a long, long time.
Chatting to Digital Spy and other media about whether there are plans to reunite Daisy Edgar-Jones (Marianne) and Paul Mescal (Connell) for a second season, co-producer Ed Guiney said: "Not in the short term. We've turned our attention – we're adapting 'Conversations with Friends' [Rooney's debut novel] as a television series.
"It's the same basic team. Lenny [Abrahamson] is going to direct it and is across it as an executive producer. And Alice Birch and all of us at Element [Pictures].
"So that's what we'll be turning our attention to next. But maybe down the line we'll come back to Connell and Marianne. "
Abrahamson added: "I have a fantasy of doing a kind of 10-year… you know, seeing where they are in 10 years' time sort of thing. It'd be good."
Both leads have also said that they'd jump straight back in if given the opportunity.
"If that [season two] was the case, then absolutely," said Mescal.
"I think what's glorious about it is that the book definitely feels final about their lives. They're still existing in the world somewhere. I think that's probably a question for Sally and everybody else. But I'll put my hand up and say I'd play Connell until the cows come home."
Edgar-Jones added: "Same. Yeah, very much so."
Normal People season 2 cast: Who's in it?
Marianne and Connell are the beating heart of this narrative, so if a sequel is greenlit further down the line, Edgar-Jones and Mescal would both be back.
Other characters likely to feature are Connell's mum Lorraine (Sarah Greene), Marianne's friend Joanna (Eliot Salt), and Connell's friend and former roommate Niall (Desmond Eastwood).
Marianne's relationship with her mum Denise (Aislín McGuckin) and brother Alan (Frank Blake) was virtually non-existent at the end of season one. Technically, they could feature in future episodes, but it feels unlikely.
The same can also be said for other peripheral characters, such as Marianne's ex-boyfriend Jamie (Fionn O'Shea), Peggy (India Mullen), and Connell's former school crowd.
Normal People season 2 plot: What will happen?
There's currently no source material to draw from.
What we know of Marianne and Connell exists in the pages of a single book, and there's been no talk from Rooney of a follow-up.
Perhaps she'll put pen to paper further down the line and a second season will follow. Or perhaps the writer will revisit the characters in TV form only – she co-wrote six episodes, so it's not out of the question.
But it does feel like a book will come first if we're going to revisit this world.
At the end of season one, Connell decides to go to New York, encouraged by Marianne, while she chooses to stay in Ireland. That's all we know, and the possibilities following on from that are endless.
Connell could live out his days stateside, with Marianne eventually joining him. Perhaps they'll continue to drift in and out of one another's lives.
Connell could head back to Ireland, while Marianne finds herself somewhere else entirely.
Perhaps, after further deliberation, he decides not to go.
Only one person can continue this story and her lips are firmly sealed.
Director Lenny Abrahamson did mention the possibility of a ten-year time jump...
