Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker star Naomi Ackie is open to the idea of a Jannah spin-off - digitalspy.com

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker may have brought the Skywalker Saga to a close, but luckily for us the world of Star Wars is still growing.

One relatively new star of the monumentally popular sci-fi universe is Naomi Ackie, who joined the ranks in The Rise of Skywalker as Jannah, a warrior fighting against the First Order.

Ackie – who also starred in The End of the F***ing World – recently spoke to Digital Spy about the possibility of appearing in any new Star Wars movies. And the chances look pretty good.

"Jannah was a completely new character and I like the idea that the Star Wars universe is expanding," Naomi said.

"I think Jannah could get a spin-off. She has a really rich backstory that JJ [Abrams] told me about, and a future that we still don't know about."

But is Jannah also Lando Calrissian's (Billy Dee Williams) long-lost daughter? Naomi isn't giving anything up, instead replying with a 'my lips are sealed' gesture.

"That's my answer," she said. Intriguing.

Naomi also talked about what it was like to be cast as one of the first black female leads in the Star Wars universe, saying: "Getting the Star Wars role was really surreal.

"I loved playing Jannah because she’s strong and brave. She's one of the first black female leads to enter the Star Wars universe in 41 years and I felt the importance of that.

"For me, it was about everything from having natural, textured hair to not being shy of talking about what more the industry needs to do," she added.
