Lady Gaga on talk show solicits $10 million donation from Apple CEO Tim Cook for COVID-19 benefit

Lady Gaga during a remote talk show appearance Monday solicited a $10 million donation from Apple CEO Tim Cook for her upcoming COVID-19 benefit. 

The 34-year-old pop star while on the Home Edition of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon discussed the One World: Together At Home benefit that's she's been working on in collaboration with Global Citizen and the World Health Organization.

Gaga shared that Fallon, 45, will co-host the April 18 live broadcast along with fellow talk show hosts Jimmy Kimmel, 52, and Stephen Colbert, 55.

The Poker Face singer during her segment suggested they call Tim, 59, about a donation for the event that will benefit the WHO's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

'I think we should call Tim Cook. I don't know if he knows he's going to be on TV just yet, but we're going to FaceTime him and find out,' Gaga asked.

Gaga after reaching Tim reminded him of a donation they discussed the previous night and asked if she could confirm the 'quite sizable' pledge.

'You can confirm me. We are so proud to be a part of this,' Tim said.

Gaga celebrated the donation with a happy shriek.

'My next single's called Tim Cook. I'm putting it out tomorrow. You just helped a lot of people. Thank you so much,' Gaga told him.

Jimmy later revealed that Apple donated $10 million to support the One World: Together At Home initiative.

Gaga is curating the One World: Together At Home benefit that will feature appearances by Sesame Street characters, Alanis Morissette, Andrea Bocelli, Billie Eilish, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Chris Martin, David Beckham, Eddie Vedder, Sir Elton John, Idris Elba, John Legend, Kacey Musgraves, Keith Urban, Kerry Washington, Lizzo, Sir Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder.

The singer said the event was neither a telethon nor fundraiser and viewers could put away their wallets and credit cards when the program starts.

'Just sit back and watch the show because we will already have raised money ahead of time. We're already at $35 million,' Gaga said.

She thanked IBM and Cisco for generous donations before calling up Tim to confirm his donation.

The special will be broadcast live on Saturday, April 18, on ABC, NBC and CBS and also will be streamed on Apple, Amazon Prime Video, Facebook, Twitch, Twitter, Yahoo and YouTube.

Andy Cohen, 51, also appeared remotely as a guest and talked about his recovery after becoming ill with the coronavirus. 

Billie Joe Armstrong, 48, of Green Day as musical guest performed a cover of I Think We're Alone Now that was famously covered by Tiffany in 1987.
