Piers Morgan was left fuming on Good Morning Britain as he revealed the dozens of parking tickets he’s received from NHS staff asking for help to pay them off as they continue fight against coronavirus.
On 25 March, Piers vowed to pay off all health workers car parking bills as he slammed hospitals for their extortionate fees for car parking, especially given the current climate.
Less than a day later, an announcement was made that the government would scrap the payments – but unfortunately not all hospitals are doing so as the parking is privately owned.

Holding up a pile of papers on today’s show, Piers revealed he had received numerous letters from NHS staff, and promised to stay true to his word and paying them off.
He then said: ‘I said I’d pay for them all, which I’m going to do. What I’m going to do – I’m going to write to all the people who have been charging our health workers vast amounts of money in some cases to park their car, and ask them, do you want me to pay them on their behalf, because I will. Not a problem.’

‘Secondly I’m going to ask them if they’re going to continue charging NHS staff for parking after all this? Do you think that’s right? That’s fair?,’ the presenter continued.
‘Nurses earning £20-£25,000 a year, paying £80 because they ran late on their shifts. Surgeons working to save people’s lives having massive bills for parking their car?’
‘Imagine coming out of a shift like that and seeing a parking ticket, under your windscreen wiper,’ Susanna agreed.
He then read a letter he received as soon as April 3, from a family member who worried for his wife who had been working directly with coronavirus victims, who had been charged multiple times.
Branding it ‘disgraceful’, he read another from a hospital worker who had dealt with multiple fines as they were forced to drive in to work to avoid exposure on public transport.

A third letter from an A&E doctor revealed they had been charged a late fine for coming in early to sleep before their shift on the ward.
‘To me, no health worker should ever have to pay to be at the hospital. Ever. Period,’ Piers declared.
‘The system needs to change, and we’re going to campaign on this show, to make sure that they never go back to charging any health care workers for parking in hospitals,’ he continued.
‘That goes for anyone in the NHS frontline. It is ridiculous and this just reveals to me the scale of it.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am at ITV.
