Prince Harry ATTACKED by British physician for 'outrageous' remarks during podcast - Express

Professor Karol Sikora, a leading British oncologist, lashed out at Prince Harry following his comments on volunteering at a time of crisis and the pride he has for Britons. The Duke of Sussex revealed his thoughts on the selfless behaviour of many British veterans who have joined the army of volunteers helping the most vulnerable and the NHS during the coronavirus pandemic.

During his chat with Michael Coates, who hosts the Declassified podcast, Prince Harry said: “I’m just so incredibly proud to see what these individuals up and down the country and across the world are doing on a day to day basis.

"I think that what is happening especially in the UK is the very best of the human spirit.

“It’s also proving that I think things are better than we’re led to believe through certain corners of the media.

“It can be very worrying when you’re sitting there and the only information you are getting is from certain news channels, but then if you are out and about or you are on the right platforms, you can really sense this human spirit coming to the forefront."

This comment appears to be referring to the volunteering efforts of the veteran community and fears of isolation rather than on the dangers of the coronavirus pandemic.

However, Professor Sikora branded these remarks, broadcasted after 888 more people died of coronavirus yesterday, "outrageous".

The expert told The Sun: “What are his qualifications for making these comments — other than deserting his country in its hour of need?

“I think these remarks are outrageous.

“As for the media, I really don’t understand what Harry’s beef is.

"Journalists have been reporting the facts and have been doing great work in holding the Government to account.

“The media has also championed the NHS and become a key ally of doctors, nurses and key workers.

"They should be applauded, not vilified."

Nadra Ahmed, of the National Care Association, warned Prince Harry he hasn't seen the whole, devastating picture when it comes to coronavirus.

Speaking about the mental anguish and day to day problems care staff and NHS frontline workers are facing, she said: “Some of the things I have heard are harrowing.”

Prince Harry recently spoke with parents of critically ill youngsters and a nurse at WellChild, one of his patronages.

The Duke of Sussex praised the "super parents" after hearing their fears and struggles during the pandemic.

And he revealed he hoped his conversation with them would help grab the attention of the Government and understand the WellChild families fit into the 'vulnerable' category.

He said: "Full respect to every single one of you.

"This is hard on everyone, but it is especially hard on you.

"I know that WellChild are doing everything they can to support you.

"Hopefully, through this video we can make it more clear and obvious to Government and everybody else that you are in the vulnerable bracket and WellChild needs more help."

In his latest interview, Prince Harry told Mr Coates about his pride for veterans and all those in the UK doing a "very British thing" by offering their help to the vulnerable and NHS staff.

He said: “There are literally hundreds of thousands of people volunteering.

"It’s such a wonderfully British thing that we all come to help when we need it.”
