Ross Kemp has insisted that his upcoming documentary on the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) on the NHS did not "drain" hospital resources at any point.
Ross Kemp: On the NHS Frontline – which will air this evening (April 16) on ITV – will see the filmmaker visit Milton Keynes University Hospital, providing audiences with an exclusive look at how frontline NHS staff are working to treat coronavirus.
Now, the former EastEnders actor has responded to concerns about how appropriate his episode exploring the ongoing coronavirus pandemic really is.

Amid calls for Ross Kemp: On the NHS Frontline to be axed, Ross told today's Good Morning Britain that the personal protective equipment (PPE) he was wearing during filming was his own, and that filming inside the hospital's intensive care unit only took place "for a very short time".
"In terms of the PPE, we used one set, and we brought more than that, and we left it behind, and it's exactly the same standard," he explained. "So they were happy with what we did."
Reassuring viewers that their presence at the hospital was never a distraction, Kemp added: "At no point were we a drain on resources, and only myself and the cameraman actually went in to the ICU. We were there for a very short time – under half an hour."

Milton Keynes University Hospital previously defended Kemp and the ITV project, revealing that access was only granted to a "small crew".
In a statement shared on Twitter, the hospital wrote: "We have agreed to give to @RossKemp & a small crew access to capture the amazing efforts of NHS staff in response to #COVID19. This access has been risk assessed & agreed in discussion w/ @NHSEngland.
"We believe it's in the public interest to show them how hospitals are preparing".
Ross Kemp: On the NHS Frontline airs tonight (April 16) at 8.30pm on ITV.
