Ross Kemp has received mixed reviews from fans after he announced he will show the harsh reality of what NHS staff on the frontline have to deal with as they continue to battle the outbreak of coronavirus.
The former soap star will be giving viewers an inside look of the intensive care unit of a hospital in Milton Keynes and will document how doctors and nurses are working relentlessly against Covid-19.
The 55-year-old announced social media that the show – called Ross Kemp: On the NHS Frontline will air next Thursday.

‘My team and I have been embedded in Milton Keynes … to tell the story of Covid-19. To show you, the sacrifices that NHS staff are making on our behalf,’ Ross explained in the clip as he urged people to tune in.
The caption to the clip read: ‘We’ve been filming on the frontline with @NHSuk staff as they deal with the coronavirus pandemic and we’ve been following the patients who are fighting Covid-19.
‘First episode of Ross Kemp: On the NHS Frontline airs next Thursday 8.30 @itv. Please watch #COVIDー19#coronavirus.’
Ross later tweeted another video from inside the hospital in which he was wearing a face mask.
The former actor explained to his followers that they would be replacing any masks they had to use for the documentary.
He explained: ‘Even though we are using NHS masks, we are actually replacing those with ones that we’ve brought.
‘They are exactly the same standard and the health trust here are happy that we’re doing that.’
He added: ‘The reason they want us to use the exact same masks as the ones the doctors and nurses wear is so that we don’t cause any alarm to any of the patients.’
‘I’ve just been fitted for PPE and we’re about to go into an intensive care unit at Milton Keynes Hospital to witness the incredible efforts of medics treating Covid 19 patients,’ the caption to the clip read.

And despite Ross wanting to give people an eye-opener in to how coronavirus is affecting the NHS, his documentary has received mixed reviews from fans.
While some are supporting the star, others aren’t so happy with it and they took to Twitter to respond to him.
One commented: ‘Think its disgusting how you’re allowed in there yet loved ones aren’t.’
Another said: ‘This is wrong on so many levels.’
Another simply tweeted: ‘Disgusting mate.’
One added: ‘Folk are dying alone (or hopefully with a caring NHS worker in their last minutes). Why on earth are you doing this?’
It follows after it was confirmed that a further 917 people died after contracting coronavirus, bringing the UK death toll to at least 9,875.
This includes 823 deaths in England, with an 11-year-old becoming one of the country’s youngest victims of the Covid-19 outbreak.
The number of people who have tested positive for the illness now stands at 78,991.
The Department of Health and Social Care said 18,091 tests had taken place on 10 April.

It comes as 19 NHS workers are confirmed to have lost their lives in the pandemic.
Matt Hancock said it was a ‘heartbreaking story’ and it affected everyone in the NHS to see their colleagues pass away.
The health secretary insisted he was not aware of any link between lack of PPE and the deaths, but added that a full investigation would be carried out to understand how the health workers contracted the virus.
Alarming new figures from the Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre (ICNARC) claim the death rate of patients admitted to intensive care with Covid-19 now stands at more than 51%.
