Given the choice between four royal couples 35 percent would chose William and Kate versus 24 percent for Harry and Meghan. The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh come in second place, with 25 percent, whilst Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall come last with a mere 15 percent.
The survey of 2,000 respondents was conducted by OnePoll, on behalf of the BRITA Group.
However there were major generational differences in the results.
Whilst they were the third most popular couple overall Harry and Meghan came first with both Millennials and Generation Z, with 31 percent and 33 percent respectively.
Kate and William recorded even greater leads with members of Generation X (39 percent) and Baby Boomers (37 percent).
Meghan and Harry shocked the world when they announced in January they were stepping down from senior royal duties.
Instead the couple said they would aim to become “financially independent” and later agreed to drop their ‘Royal Sussex’ brand.
Currently Meghan and Harry are living in Los Angeles, California, where they moved last month.
This places them in Meghan’s childhood home and close to Doria Ragland, Meghan’s mother.

“Meghan had been looking for an organization to get behind and says Project Angel Food is the perfect fit.”
The source added: “She plans on volunteering much more with Harry.”
Prince Charles confirmed he was suffering from “mild” coronavirus symptoms last month whilst in Scotland.
He is now out of self-isolation and is reportedly in good health.
The Duchess of Cornwall was also tested for the disease but the result came back negative.
On March 19 the Queen released a message saluting the efforts of doctors and scientists to fight the virus.
She said: “We are enormously thankful for the expertise and commitment of our scientists, medical practitioners and emergency and public services; but now more than any time in our recent past, we all have a vitally important part to play as individuals - today and in the coming days, weeks and months.
“Many of us will need to find new ways of staying in touch with each other and making sure that loved ones are safe.
“I am certain we are up to that challenge.
“You can be assured that my family and I stand ready to play our part.”
