May 6-31 – Spring turkey season for upstate New York. Limit is two bearded birds per season but only one per day. One-half hour before sunrise to noon. Contact www.dec.ny.gov for more info.

May 9 – Migratory Bird Day with the theme "Birds Connect our World."

May 15 – Deadline extended for applications, 17th annual Environmental Excellence Awards Program to recognize businesses, institutions, municipalities and organizations for outstanding commitments to environmental sustainability, social responsibility and economic viability. May 23-25 – 56th annual National Lake Trout Derby on Seneca Lake. Check out www.laketroutderby.org for details.

May 30 – Inland muskellunge season opens (not the Great Lakes) with a 40-inch minimum size and a daily limit of one fish per person.

May 31 – Final day, spring turkey season in upstate New York.

May 31-June 5 – Salmon Slam on Lake Ontario, best five salmon and two trout over seven days. Register at www.wilsonharborinvitational.com. You do not have to be at the Wilson Invitational event. Cost to register is $335 for a team.

May 31-June 5 – $1K a Day event for the biggest salmon on Lake Ontario caught each day through June 5. Register for $125 at www.wilsonharborinvitational.com for details. Free for anyone registered in the WHI tournament.

Rescheduled

April 25 – Spring Gun Raffle, Three-F Club, Lewiston has been changed to Sept. 26 at the club, 904 Swann Road. Current tickets sold will remain eligible.

May 16 – Wilson Harbor Invitational Salmon Tournament is still on, but the date is now June 6. Check out www.wilsonharborinvitational.com for details.

June 14 – 25th annual Hunting Heritage Banquet of the Niagara County Gobblers Chapter of NWTF at Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. Dinner at 5 p.m. Call Pam or Herb Lederhouse at 791-3151 for details.

Canceled

May 7 – Lake Ontario Trout and Salmon Association monthly meeting “At the Dock” with Capt. Mike Johannes in Wilson Harbor is canceled.

May 8-17 – Spring Lake Ontario Counties Trout and Salmon Derby has been canceled for this year. Check www.loc.org for details on the summer and fall events.

May 16 – About Boating Safety Class at Fort Niagara, Youngstown has been canceled. Contact Martin Laufer at 390-7727 for when scheduling will resume.

May 16 – Bow Bending Believers 16th annual Sportsmen’s Dinner and Seminar to be held at Oak Orchard Assembly of God Church, 1211 Ridge Road, Medina, has been canceled. Call 585-765-2839 for more information.

May 16 – Ray’s Kids Day, held at Reinstein Woods Environmental Education Center in Cheektowaga and operated by the Lake Erie Chapter of Fly Fishers International has been canceled. For more info, contact Dave Rosner at 675-4766, www.lake-erie-fff.org.

June 5-6 – Lake Ontario Pro-Am Salmon Team Tournament out of Wilson and Olcott. Will be rescheduled for June 4-5, 2021. www.lakeontarioproam.net.

June 28-July 3 – New York State Trout Waters Youth Camp 2020 hosted by Trout Unlimited in the Catskills has been canceled for this year. For more info, contact Mike Walchko at 518-231-3276.

July 16-26 – 30th annual Stephen Harrington Memorial Erie Canal Fishing Derby. Rescheduled for July 15-25, 2021. www.eriecanalderby.com.
