Club News
Leechburg Rotary Club
Leechburg Rotary Club received a $1,500 grant from Rotary District 7280 and the Rotary Foundation to help with the renovation of the gazebo in Riverfront Park in Leechburg.
Leechburg Rotary will match the $1500 to make a total of $3,000 donated to the project. Several other community organizations and private individuals donated to the project. No borough funds were used.
The gazebo was built in 2004 but fell victim to vandalism over the years. Under the direction of Leechburg Mayor Wayne Dobos, the project to update the gazebo and park area began last fall. The old railing was removed and replaced with metal, painting was started, and trees and Japanese knot weed cut back to make the river more visible.
Due to unfavorable weather and the corona virus pandemic, the project is temporarily on hold. When possible, the painting will be completed and further clearing of the riverbanks will continue.
