Love Island receives over 300 complaints over News Splash game - digitalspy.com

We already knew that viewers were unhappy with Love Island's latest twist on the villa's 'Online Buzz' game, but now we know exactly how unhappy they were.

Since the Islanders were shown playing 'News Splash' in Wednesday's (February 12) episode, more than 300 complaints have been lodged over the show's treatment of Paige Turley and Finn Tapp.

377 complaints were brought to broadcasting regulator Ofcom, after the Islanders were tasked with guessing which contestant a real headline was referring to.

One headline, which was taken from an online news article, read: "Casa Amor causes Callum, Finn, and Nas' heads to turn on tonight's Love Island," but viewers at home will know that Finn stayed loyal to Paige throughout the Casa Amor twist.

On hearing the misleading headline, Paige was understandably shocked and ignored Finn's insistence that he had done nothing wrong. "There's cameras and people watching," she argued.

(The poor lad slept on the day bed for practically nothing.)

An Ofcom spokesperson told Digital Spy: “We are assessing these complaints against our broadcasting rules before deciding whether or not to investigate.”

It's not only Love Island's treatment of Paige and Finn that viewers are unimpressed with – the News Splash challenge also caused tension between fan-favourite Siânnise Fudge and Luke Trotman.

After watching Siânnise and Luke bicker over the challenge, some fans were adamant that producers were deliberately stirring the pot. "That challenge still pisses me off, the producers really wrecked the strongest couples," one viewer wrote.

Another agreed: "At this point the producers are just trying too hard to create drama."

Digital Spy has contacted Ofcom for more information.
