Emma told host Lorraine Kelly: 'Three years to lose the weight, I've lost 13 stone in total.

Emma continued: 'It's all about mindset. I've cut out potatoes, pasta and rice, changed it to vegetables. Portion sizes as well, always portion sizes.

Swap florals for planets like Lorraine in a printed dress by Joanie

Lorraine Kelly looked out of this world when hosting her namesake show this morning!

Her dress isn't from a galaxy far, far away - it's from Joanie, and we love the unusual space print, which features planets, little rockets and shooting stars. It's a quirky alternative to florals, stripes or polka dot prints, plus the wrap over shape is super flattering.

Click (right) to buy it now. It's easy to see why fans of Joanie include Holly Willoughby, Amanda Holden and Stacey Solomon!

The former contestant admitted that the stress of her parents - Philip, 63, and Audrey, 67 - breaking up and losing her dog inspired her to lose weight.

Emma also insisted that she has lost the weight through hard work and not via a gastric band, despite trolls claiming so.

She said: '[Trolls says] "Oh you've lost weight, you've had a gastric band," I've done it all myself.

'I've still got a bit to go, I want to get down to 12 stone at least.'

Emma went on to talk about her sister Sam, 31, the two auditioned on The X Factor in 2009 as Sister Act, and admitted that she still has 'weight issues' after previously disclosing she is 30 stone.

She said: 'She's doing OK, weight issues are still happening there, I have asked her to do what I’m doing, it's all mindset. I can't help her. One day it will hit her.'

Emma was targeted by cruel trolls for her weight while appearing on the popular singing competition in 2007.

During her second appearance on the ITV talent show in 2009, Emma was slammed as 'a flump' by show boss, Simon Cowell and revealed that while she had previously received criticism for her weight, the show made it worse.

A year after her sting on The X Factor, the overweight star appeared on Lorraine Kelly's Big Fat Challenge alongside her parents Philip, 63, and Audrey, 67 and her sister Sam, 31, in 2010.

Emma admitted that the trolling she received was 'cruel', she added: 'I had good and bad from that show. We did a show with you, lost weight, but then had death threats and bullying online.'

Talking about how she dealt with the abuse, she continued: 'I just spoke to family and friends, they said just ignore them, and block them, don't read message and just block them.'

Emma revealed she had no idea she would be trolled for her audition as she was only 17-years-old.

She said: 'No, I didn't, I was so young, I wanted to do The X Factor, I thought it would be a good outcome, turned out the other way. I was 17 when I auditioned.'

Talking about whether she wanted to still be a singer, Emma added: 'I do, but I don't think I'll go down this road, I still sing in the shower and in the car.'

Lorraine asked Emma to give some advice to herself on The X Factor aged 17, to which she revealed: 'I don't know, I'm happy the way I am now and not long to go.'

Lorraine continues on weekdays at 9am on ITV.
