'It wasn't the series we hoped for!' Ant and Dec aim to 'put a smile on fans' faces' as they host Saturday Night Takeaway finale from home... after cancelling Orlando trip amid COVID-19
They have continued to host Saturday Night Takeaway from home in a bid to keep the nation entertained amid the coronavirus lockdown.
And Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly sweetly admitted that they hope they'd 'put a smile on viewer's faces', as they presented the finale from their sofas.
The programme's finale should have been hosted in Disney World Florida, however due to the crisis the trip had to be cancelled.

During the show, Dec acknowledged the fact they were all grounded in the UK rather then celebrating the end of the series in America.
He admitted that it wasn't the series they had 'planned or hoped for' and said that he hoped the duo had kept their viewers entertained.
At the end of the show, Dec said: 'Sadly that's all we've got time for tonight and for this year, it wasn't quite the series we planned or hoped to bring you.
'But it has been a privilege to keep bringing you Saturday Night Takeaway to try and put a smile on your faces.'
Change of plan: The programme's finale should have been hosted in Disney World Florida, however due to the crisis the trip had to be cancelled
Ant added: 'We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has played a part in making this series, we honestly couldn't have done it without you.'
Rather than hosting a live show in Orlando, Ant and Dec, both 44, presented from home while sharing a selection of their best bits from over the years.
At the start of the programme, Dec joked: 'It's a slightly different finale this year... congratulations Ant, you've got a place on the sofa!'
The joke was in reference to the fact that throughout the series they have been telling people they've got a 'seat on the plane' to their Florida finale.
Reminiscing on happier times, the presenting duo played back an opening from the last show of the series in 2017 when they made it stateside for the finale.

Why? The opening segment was held in the Magic Kingdom to Beauty and the Beast's Be Our Guest and Ant quipped: 'That was amazing... why did I ever grow a beard?'

The show continued as Ant and Dec replayed a surprise segment with couple Victoria and Dan, which saw them travel around the world unknowingly followed by her parents.
The video tape revealed that the couple had travelled to Vietnam, New Zealand and Malaysia and were metres away from her incognito parents.

Victoria looked utterly gob-smacked during the rerun, however the biggest surprise of the night was still yet to come.
Victoria's partner Dan, who had been in on the action the entire time, was believed to be in New York at the time of the live show.
However unbeknown to Victoria he had actually travelled back to London to propose to her on the programme in front of the nation - to which she said yes.

One of the best bits aired on the show was a Get Out Me Ear segment with Dermot O'Leary, who had to copy everything they were saying while in a supermarket.
Some of the highlights included stealing items out of people's baskets, hopping into a strangers trolley and lining up five pineapples for a game of bowls.
At the end of the prank, Dermot was told to push over a whole crate of eggs before making a run for it out of the shop.
Following the clip, Dec commented: 'It's a different time seeing those supermarkets full.', as he made reference to the recent empty shelves following panic buying.

In a one off isolation Ant vs Dec, the duo had to go head to head to complete a series of challenges from their homes.
The segment was hosted by Stephen Mulhern, who was also presenting from the comfort of his sofa, and required them to hunt around for as many of their awards as they could find.
During the ad break, Dec managed to find 23 while Ant went the extra mile and discovered 36. Dec joked that he would have got more but he was unable to reach a 'really high shelf'.

Next up the boys had to find a item in their fridges that Stephen would hate, after both returning with hummus - Dec took the point for coming back first.
The boys then had to run to their bedrooms and return to the room with their duvet first, Ant was first to make it back with his white bedding cover.
Moments later Dec returned and asked if he lost.
After Stephen asked Dec why he took so long, Dec joked: 'Well it's quite a big house Stephen!'
The winner Ant, bagged one of Stephen's magic sets.

Making a guest appearance on the show was TV personality James Corden, who featured as the victim in one of their previous undercover missions.
Ant and Dec replayed the clip where they messed with James during filming for an episode of his chat show, the Late Late Show.
Afterwards they asked how he was feeling about the lockdown, and he said: It's same for all of us, there's no days you're just awake and then you're asleep.

Voicing his thoughts of the prank, he said: 'The first thing I can't believe it was 2016 - time has sped up! I remember thinking they've got me proper in a way I never thought you could.'
'It's going to be wonderful to get you both back - that's what I'm thinking!
However rather than commenting on the prank, viewers at home instead noted the change in James' voice - suggesting that he sounded 'posher' on the show.
