His dad Tom Hanks, 63, revealed he and wife Rita Wilson, also 63, have contracted coronavirus and are in isolation in Australia.

And two days after his father revealed the diagnosis. Colin Hanks shared vintage safety ads about preventing the spread of germs.

One ad he shared on Friday read: 'Stop where's your handkerchief? Ah, here it is! That's the way - safe for everyone.'

Another ad read: 'A handkerchief in time saves nine and helps to keep the nation fighting fit,' with an image of a man sneezing in a handkerchief with images of nurses, doctors, army personnel, and police.

The image also said: 'Coughs and sneezes spread diseases.'

The throwback posters comes one day after Colin was spotted stepping out to pick up pastries in Los Angeles.

His dad Tom and stepmom Rita are currently self isolating thousands of miles away in Australia; they were in the country for Tom, as he filmed the new Elvis biopic.

The final third had the same message about the spread of germs, with a woman in the midst of sneezing.

It also said: 'Trap the germs in your handkerchief.'

Tom broke the news of his and Rita's diagnosis on Instagram Wednesday evening.

The movie star wrote: ''Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.'

Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires,' he added.

'Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We’ll keep the world posted and updated. Take care of yourselves! Hanx!' the actor concluded.

Following the announcement, Colin thanked fans for their support of his parents: 'My parents are receiving excellent care in Australia and are doing well (and in good spirits) given the circumstances. Despite the fact that I'm in LA and haven't seen them in over three weeks, we have been in constant contact and am confident that they will make a full recovery.'

Colin's half-brother Chet was one of the first people to address their parents' diagnosis, taking to social media Wednesday to tell the public they were doing fine.

He began asking: 'What's up everyone?' before going on to confirm: 'Yeah, it's true, my parents got Coronavirus. It's crazy.'

He went on to say they were in Australia, where his father was shooting an untitled biopic about Elvis Presley, where Hanks was playing Colonel Tom Parker.
