Royal commentator Angela Mollard has revealed that Prince William is "desperate to get out there" and help fight against the coronavirus outbreak. Reportedly the Duke of Cambridge wanted to return to his work as an air ambulance helicopter pilot, which he had trained for. However, Ms Mollard noted to the ROYALS podcast that this was a highly unlikely reality.
Ms Mollard continued: "But I think over the coming weeks and months, we're going to really see the goodness and the impact that the Royal Family can have in times of distress.
"Just as the Queen and her mother and her sister made such a difference all those years ago during the war.
"There's going to be a lot of heartening stories about the Royal Family that come over the next few weeks.
"Some of them may run under the radar like Camilla, who did a check-in and chat call with a woman called Doris."
Last month, William recorded a message of support for the National Emergencies Trust's fundraising appeal as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
In the video, he said: "Whenever and wherever adversity strikes, the people of the United Kingdom have a unique ability to pull together.
"The way that local communities support those affected shows the very best of our values and human nature.
"The public's desire to help in the wake of tragedy needs to be managed and channelled in the best possible way, which is why the establishment of a National Emergencies Trust was so important.
"I said at its launch last year that I dreaded the day when it will be needed. Sadly, with the outbreak of COVID-19, that day has come faster than any of us would have hoped, but now more than ever I'm grateful that the National Emergencies Trust exists."
