First Church of Christ Mass streaming

Longmeadow - First Church of Christ in Longmeadow, 763 Longmeadow St. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced people to stay home and stay inside, so First Church of Christ in Longmeadow, took worship services and programs online. They are now able to worship in real time on Facebook Live (facebook.com/firstchurchlongmeadow/) and YouTube Live, (youtube.com/channel/UC3YlN6a8bLfarJ_OuQW8siw) with their parishioners and friends. They can take real time prayer requests, respond to messages, play beautiful music, and just be together, when we can’t be together in person. “Social distancing” can be hard for people who are used to the community that a church brings to their life. Now we can bring that sense of community to their home and keep them safe. We also offer Sunday School through Zoom meeting, immediately following the worship service, so the kids can get together with their friends online for a fun, spiritual activity! They have additional programs, throughout the week, for online meetup through Zoom: “Interfaith Coffee and Conversations,” Tuesdays at 10 a,m,: Bring a cup of your favorite morning drink and join faith leaders and community members from Jewish, Episcopal, Catholic, UCC, Lutheran, Methodist, Muslim, Baha’I, and no faith tradition as we talk about life; “Contemplative Prayer,” Wednesdays at 1 p.m. and Thursdays at 6 p.m.: This gathering offers an opportunity for Christian contemplative prayer practices, including the silent practice of Centering Prayer as taught by Fr. Thomas Keating, and Lectio Divina, an ancient monastic practice for meditating on scripture passages. No prior experience necessary – all are welcome;· “Bible Study” Thursdays, 10 a.m.; It’s great to hear the pastors interpret the Bible for you on Sunday mornings. But, it’s only half the experience the Bible can provide. The other half is when you study it with others and sharpen everyone’s minds. Bible study is exciting, inspiring — and creates stronger connections among those who come; “Youth Group Opportunities:” Zoom meetup groups for middle and high school students on Sunday evenings at 6 p.m. and a book club on Tuesdays, 6:30 p.m. Contact Christine Callahan (Christine@firstchurchlongmeadow.org) for more information about our youth programs For more information about First Church, and the programs listed above, please visit http://www.1stchurchlongmeadow.org, e-mail admin@firstchurchlongmeadow, or call 413-567-6287.
