Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am met by cops at Sydney airport as he accuses Qantas flight attendant of - The Sun

SINGER will.i.am was met by cops at Sydney airport after accusing a Qantas flight attendant of racism.

The Black Eyed Peas and The Voice star launched into a scathing Twitter rant while he was still on the plane, telling his 12.8 million followers he had been mistreated by an “overly aggressive flight attendant”.

Will.i.am tweeted: “I don’t want to believe she racist. But she has clearly aimed all her frustrations only at the people of colour.”

The singer then named the flight attendant and posted a picture of a police officer who greeted the will.i.am and 50 Cent's guitarist Travis Ferguson when the left the plane.

He added: "This is how you're greeted when you land from Brisbane to Sydney flying @qantas with a #RacistFlightattendant".

Will.i.am - real name William Adams - said he had not heard announcements over the PA asking passengers to put electronic devices away because he was wearing noise cancelling headphones.

The star, who was around 20 minutes into the flight, was then allegedly confronted by the flight attendant when he did not stash his laptop away fast enough.

'BEYOND RUDE'

He claims when the plane landed, he was met by five police officers, who let him go without further incident.

Will.i.am said: "Qantas, your racist flight attendant was beyond rude and took it to the next level by calling the police on me.

"Thank god the other passengers testified that she was out of control. The police finally let me go.

"Imagine if the police were as aggressive.

"Is calling the police on a passenger for not hearing the PA due to wearing noise cancelling headphones appropriate?

"I did comply quickly and politely, only to be greeted by police. I think I was targeted."

'THIS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE'

He went on to allege the flight attendant "singled every person of colour in the flight and gave them a hard time", and that "other passengers on the flight agreed that she was out of hand".

The singer, who is visiting Australia as part of the RNB Fridays Live festival with his band Black Eyed Peas, also retweeted a couple of people who said they were on the same flight, and agreed with him.

But a few people accused him of intimidating the flight attendant in question by naming and shaming her online.

Qantas also hit back in a statement by blaming the drama on an American singer.

The airline said: “There was a misunderstanding on board, which seems to have been exacerbated by will.i.am wearing noise cancelling headphones and not being able to hear instructions from crew.

“We completely reject the suggestion this had anything to do with race.

“We'll be following up with will.i.am and wish him well for the rest of the tour.”

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) confirmed to Daily Mail Australia on Saturday they had responded to a request for assistance from an airline arriving into Sydney from Brisbane and spoke to the crew and passengers on board.

They confirmed the matter was "finalised" and no further action would be taken.
