AGT judge Gabrielle Union is "humbled and thankful" after controversial exit - digitalspy.com

America's Got Talent judge Gabrielle Union has broken silence after her controversial exit from the show.

The LA's Finest star appeared on the judging panel of the reality competition this year, but NBC recently confirmed that the actress, as well as fellow star Julianne Hough, won't be returning for another season.

Following her exit, Gabrielle took to Twitter to thank her followers for their support, saying that she's "humbled" by the messages she's received.

"So many tears, so much gratitude," she tweeted. "THANK YOU! Just when you feel lost, adrift, alone... you got me up off the ground. Humbled and thankful, forever."

Her tweet follows a recent report by Variety which centred on a guest appearance from former late night television host Jay Leno.

According to the publication, Leno joked while filming for the show that a painting of Simon Cowell's dogs looked like something you might find "on the menu at a Korean restaurant".

Gabrielle is said to have asked the show's producers to raise the issue with the human resources department at NBC, arguing that the comment could offend the audience and fellow staff members and be seen as perpetuating Asian stereotypes.

The joke did not appear in the episode when it was broadcast in August, and Leno has not yet commented on the reports.

NBC and the show's producer Fremantle have since issued a statement denying claims that there is a 'toxic culture' on the series, saying that they take "diversity" and "inclusivity" very seriously.

"America's Got Talent has a long history of inclusivity and diversity in both our talent and the acts championed by the show," they said.

"The judging and host line-up has been regularly refreshed over the years and that is one of the reasons for AGT's enduring popularity. NBC and the producers take any issues on set seriously."
