Strictly Come Dancing’s Karim Zeroual and Amy Dowden have triumphantly achieved the first 40 of the series with their Jive to the Hairspray number You Can’t Stop The Beat.
The couple wowed the judges, fans and the studio audience with their dance to the song from the 2007 film as part of the show’s musical week, with judge Craig Revel Horwood finally giving his first 10 of the series.
And judge Motsi Mabuse was loving it so much, she refused to sit down when the performance ended.
‘I can’t sit down!’ she exclaimed. ‘I just can’t sit down. I’m shaking, I feel like I’ve just done this dance, I would be dead before the end of it.’
Reflecting on the couple being in the bottom two last week, fellow judge Shirley Ballas said: ‘Your mind strength to come back from one week to the next week, and deliver not only a great flawless performance, but the high quality of technique…

‘You know, I teach a lot of high level professionals, but that inspired me today. You are amazing.’
Meanwhile, Bruno Tonioli revealed he had ‘shivers’ as a result of the performance.
‘I have seen a lot of Jives, but tonight, I think you are the best Jive we’ve ever seen,’ he said. ‘You are a champion in my eyes already.’
As host Tess Daly questioned whether Craig was going to finally give the couple a 10 or not, he replied sarcastically: ‘It’s such a terrible shame, darling, it really is’, as he stood up and gave the couple a standing ovation.
Their score gives them not only the highest score of the night, but also the highest score of this year’s series.
‘Do you know what, I feel like you got a 40 for everyone,’ Claudia Winkleman told them in delight.
