Extinction Rebellion: Celebs appear in video calling for climate action - Sky News

Extinction Rebellion has joined forces with celebrities to record a short film that demands action on climate change.

Among the famous faces involved are wildlife presenter Chris Packham, comedian Simon Amstell and singer Ellie Goulding, who are urging governments to outline their plans for tackling the crisis.

Packham, who is an outspoken supporter of the activist group, says in the video: "Time has run out. It's act now or face almost unimaginable consequences for life on Earth.

"So if the drivers of change are asleep at the wheel, it's time to shake and wake them with one hand and to empower ourselves to make our own differences with the other."

Goulding adds: "We demand that we are involved in the decision-making - its our futures too."

Also featuring in the clip are actress Imelda Staunton, Downton Abbey star Jim Carter, and model Daisy Lowe.

Staunton calls for a "fair and just plan to address this global inequality", while Carter says the group want the young to be educated and the old to be re-educated on climate issues so "we can all have a new start".

One of the children opens the clip, saying: "Our planet is in crisis - we know it, you know it - but honestly, where's our emergency plan?"

Winstone says in the clip: "This film must reach governments and ring the alarm bell to act now on the climate crisis we are all living in. We must all ask of them: where is your plan?"

Extinction Rebellion has put itself on the front line in the battle against climate change this year, carrying out a number of actions across the world to demand action on climate change.

Most recently the group spent two weeks in London, shutting down major roads in the city and carrying out a number of instances of civil disobedience.
