After starring in the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, Joaquin Phoenix has now revealed if he'd like to make a Joker sequel.
Centred on Phoenix's catastrophically unfunny clown, this DC crime drama has welcomed heaps of praise, while also riding the wave of controversy since its debut at Venice Film Festival.
With Arthur Fleck – or Joker, as he's eventually known – last seen legging it through the corridors of Arkham State Hospital, this loose ending has undoubtedly invited sequel chatter.

Discussing the notion with The Envelope (via LA Times), Phoenix admitted: "I wouldn't just do a sequel just because the first movie is successful, that's ridiculous."
However, the two-time Oscar nominee also revealed that he and director Todd Phillips frequently spoke about doing a follow-up on set, as the character is so complex.
"Long before the release or before we had any idea if it would be successful, we talked about sequels," he noted.
"In the second or third week of shooting, I was like: 'Todd, can you start working on a sequel? There's way too much to explore.' It was kind of in jest — but not really."
That's all we needed to hear, Mr Phoenix! That said, Phillips did add that they're not planning anything just yet.

"We haven’t talked about it a ton,” admitted the director. “We’ve only talked about the fact that if we ever did one – and I’m not saying we are because right now we’re not – it couldn’t just be this wild and crazy movie about the ‘Clown Prince of Crime.’
"That just doesn’t interest us. It would have to have some thematic resonance in a similar way that this does."
