Talking to the Mirror, she said: 'I would do drastic things in order to make him get back with me.

'I drank a bottle of vodka and cut my wrists – a cry for help, a cry for attention.

'I was spiralling. I was too young to cope with my breaking heart and cloudy drunk head.'

Emily added that she was saved by medics but had to 'hide her bandages' from her family, especially her mother Kate Robbins, 57, who was 'horrified' and 'heartbroken'.

The star added that after her teenage heartbreak she started bunking off school due to bullying, hanging out with older students and having house parties in her parents' home when they were away.

Emily also shared her support for Little Mix's Jesy Nelson who recently revealed she tried to take her own life after being subjected to horrific trolling about her looks in her Odd One Out documentary.

The Inbetweeners star's interview comes after she revealed that she was once left in tears after a colleague exposed himself in a hotel room.

Writing in her new book Are We There Yet?: To indignity... and Beyond! the actress, 29, recalled the moment a colleague pressured her for sex during a wrap party, despite her refusals.

Emily went onto say that she fled the hotel room after kissing the unknown man she only named as 'Dave,' even though she was in a relationship at the time.

In her book, Emily explains that she was at a wrap party with the unknown colleague in question after they worked together on a 'project.'

She added: 'I was drunk. I wasn't single. I was with someone at the time, so I had no intention of doing anything with anybody.'

Emily said that she found herself stumbling around hotel corridors when the party ran out of wine, and one guest gave her a key before saying that there was alcohol in his room.

The former Inbetweeners star then said that she found the room and opened the minibar, but there was no alcohol inside.

'And all of a sudden I turned round and Dave is standing there, in the room with his d*** out,' she said.

'I froze. I remember saying, drunkenly, ''No'', but I didn't have a clue what to do.'

Emily added that she tried to escape the room but 'Dave' would not let her go, and so she kissed him, and went onto add: '[He] let me leave and the next day I cried my eyes out all day.'

The star also stated that she likes to think if the same ordeal happened now it would have ended differently.

But she went onto admit: 'When you’re drunk, in a room with a man who holds more power than you, instinct takes over, to get you the hell out of there.'

Emily's admission comes in her new book, Are We There Yet? which touches upon highly personal subjects like her parents' divorce and being bullied as a teenager.

In the book, Emily is searingly honest about her battles with depression and admits to using alcohol and anti-depressants during her darkest moments.

She said: 'I used medication to get me out of bed in the morning during an incredibly tough time and to dry up my tears, but I'm not in that place anymore.'

Emily admitted to being on medication for three years on the advice of her doctor rather than her therapist, but is now medication free.

She insists she feels 'stronger now' and ready for what life throws at her but notes that often the people who seem most bubbly are battling the biggest internal struggles.

Meanwhile, Emily recently broke up with her boyfriend Rob Jowers following a six-month romance and said it had left her feeling very sad.

She told OK!: 'It's been a very, very tough time and it's still very raw. Luckily, I've got so many things happening in my life to distract me from the fact I'm incredibly sad.

'But I know the drill and I've got over boys before. Heartbreak gets harder to deal with as you get older as you pin your hopes on things. I so wanted this to be my happy ending.'
