Barry Manilow, 76, leaves Kate Garraway shocked as he suddenly jokes about sex during an interview about his new album

Barry Manilow left Kate Garraway shocked when he suddenly joked about sex during an interview on Thursday's Good Morning Britain.

The Copacabana legend, 76, left the presenter, 52, red-faced back in the London studio during a video-link chat from Palm Springs, California, while discussing his new album, Night Songs II.

Barry had been talking about his manager husband, Garry Kief, who he married in 2014 and has been with for more than 40 years, when he cheekily quipped: 'Talking about sex and romance...'

Kate was left visibly stunned by the sudden segue in conversation, when Barry continued: 'I've got this new album and it's sexy and romantic.

'It's all the great American songbook but I dug deeper and found some really beautiful songs. I found my My Funny Valentine and it's actually going to the charts.'

The cheekiness didn't stop there as Kate joked: 'Talking about sex... you've probably been played on many a romantic night.'

Barry quipped: 'Oh yeah, I think so, I've been in the backseat of the car with you!'

Go for vintage vibes like Kate Garraway in a green dress by Joanie

Green is the colour to be seen in this season. But don't just take our word for it - check out the dress Kate Garraway wore on Good Morning Britain earlier today!

It's the 'Babs' dress by Joanie, and we love the vintage vibe that's created by the collar, buttons and sleeves. Bravo to stylist Debbie Harper for bringing this beauty to our attention!

Fans of Joanie include Holly Willoughby and Amanda Holden so you'll certainly be in good company if you click (right) to buy this dress now. Kate wore hers with some colour pop purple shoes, but if you're not feeling quite so bold, nude or black will work really well too.

Or freshen up your wardrobe for spring with the help of our edit below instead. Do you go for the Whistles, the Goat, or the Ghost... decisions, decisions!

To which fellow presenter Adil Ray joked: 'You're not the first guest to say that to Kate Garraway,' with Kate adding: 'You could fill a whole Wembley stadium of them!'

Also during the interview, Barry, who announced he was gay in 2017 at the age of 73, admitted that if he had come out earlier it would have affected his career.

He said: 'Well if I had done it much earlier, I think it would have affected my career a lot.

'But by the time Gary and I decided to do it, being gay and being alive was accepted, so nothing changed.'

Could It Be Magic: Barry had been talking about his manager husband, Garry Kief, who he married in 2014 and has been with for more than 40 years, when he cheekily quipped: 'Talking about sex and romance...'

Discussing his life after coming out, Barry added: 'Nothing's changed, the only thing that is different is people are very happy for me.

'People just wanted me to be happy and when I said I had someone in my life, they were happy for me and there was no negativity.'

He sweetly added: 'I kind of expected that and it's great.'

In 2017, Barry told People magazine: 'I thought I would be disappointing them [his fans] if they knew I was gay. So I never did anything.'

With tears in his eyes, Barry said he was overwhelmed that when fans did find out they did not push him away.

'When they found out that Garry and I were together, they were so happy. The reaction was so beautiful - strangers commenting, ''Great for you!'' I'm just so grateful for it.'

Continuing: To which Kate was left shocked, he continued: 'I've got this new album and it's sexy and romantic.'

But it took a long time to get to that point, with Barry often linked to TV production assistant Linda Allen.

In fact, the singer even lived with Linda during his relationship with Garry and Barry still refuses to talk about his love life before Garry - aside from his first wife.

The pair went to great lengths to keep their relationship private, not just because the star was weary about revealing his sexuality, but also because his love was not sure he was ready to deal with the fame.

After a concert early in their relationship: 'I got into the car with him and [fans] were rocking the car. He was like "I can't handle this. It's not for me."'

Barry and Garry have been together for four decades, the singer told People he knew from the day he met the Texas-native in 1978 that he was the one.
