Kirk Douglas leaves most of his $80m fortune to charity - The Times

The Hollywood actor Kirk Douglas, who died this month at the age of 103, has left most of his $80 million fortune to charity.

Douglas, who starred in the 1960 epic Spartacus and received three Oscar nominations for best actor, left most of his money to the Douglas Foundation, which he founded in 1964 with his second wife, Anne Buydens.

Ms Buydens, 100, who married Douglas in 1954, after they met on the set of Lust for Life, is still its managing trustee.

The foundation has funded the Los Angeles children’s hospital, the restoration of a cinema, a cottage hospital in Santa Barbara, a synagogue and a scholarship for underprivileged students at St Lawrence University in New York.
