slowthai has apologised to Katherine Ryan, after he was accused of being misogynistic towards the comedian at last night’s NME Awards.
The rapper said that his hero award from the night should instead be given to Katherine following his behaviour, including making sexual comments towards the host and attempting to fight a member of the crowd.

Tweeting NME, slowthai wrote: ‘please forward my award to @kathbum for she is the hero of the year. what started as a joke between us escalated to a point of shameful actions on my part. i want to unreservedly apologise, there is no excuse and I am sorry. i am not a hero.
‘katherine, you are a master at your craft and next time i’ll take my seat and leave the comedy to you. to any woman or man who saw a reflection of situations they’ve been in in those videos, i am sorry. i promise to do better. let’s talk here.’
The tweets were greeted by messages of thanks from fans for his apology, with one person replying: ‘Honestly it was disappointing seeing you like that, but hopefully you’ll learn from your mistakes.’
Another wrote: ‘thank you for addressing this & apologizing. still a bit disappointing but still have so much love for you. you’re better than how you acted last night. show that.’
And Katherine, 36, replied: ‘I knew you were joking and congratulations on your very award-worthy album! I hope you know that a bad day on social media passes so quickly. Everything will be better tomorrow.’
The rapper, real name Tyron Frampton, was accepting his fan-voted hero of the year award when he made sexual comments towards host Katherine.

‘Smell my cologne, smells good don’t it,’ he said before leaning in to seemingly kiss her cheek.
After Katherine pushed him away, slowthai continued to make suggestive comments and said: ‘Baby girl, I don’t want to have to do this to you right now. But everybody, she needs to understand the levels right now.
‘If you want to do something, see me later. She wants me to tend to her flowers. You ain’t never had no one play with you like that. Stop playing with me.’

Katherine brushed it off as slowthai left the stage and joked: ‘I’m so thirsty for your c**k.’
However, it all kicked off when he was branded a ‘misogynist’ and a ‘wasteman’ by audience members, resulting in slowthai throwing a drink and attempting to fight an audience member.
The star was dragged away by security, while Katherine attempted to calm down the situation.

The Your Face Or Mine star later said she was not offended by slowthai’s comments.
She tweeted: ‘He didn’t make me uncomfortable. This is why we need women in positions of power.
‘I knew he had lost from the moment he opened his mouth like any heckler coming up against a COMIC – not a woman – a COMIC. I was operating 2/10. What a sweet boy. I defused it. Tonight was fun!’
