Love Island stars are no longer safe from the show's infamous texts even in their sleep.
There's nothing that strikes terror in the hearts of an Islander like a text – or "message" as our old pal Ovie Soko used to say.
Sure, the texts sometimes alert the Islanders to fun things like a dance party with Sean Paul or an impending date, but more often they announce an embarrassing challenge, recoupling drama or a dumping.
But in Wednesday's (February 12) episode, Love Island found a way to make even a date text unpleasant! This text to Jess Gale and Ched Uzor was sent to the Islanders while they were still fast asleep at the ungodly hour of 5am.
Neither of them stirred from their slumber, so Love Island sent the text again. And again. And again – until it woke up Luke M and Finn, and they were forced to rouse Jess from her sleep so she could check out her phone.
"I'm not usually a morning person," Jess admitted in the Beach Hut later on.
Ched was soon up too, and the couple read in the text that they had to get ready immediately to leave the villa for a special morning date. Surely that was right up Jess's ally!
Lots of viewers were annoyed on the couple's behalf. In fact, some Love Island fans went so far as to claim they'd ignore the text entirely or turn down the date if they were roused from their sleep at 5am.
One Islander who was shaken by the early morning text was Demi Jones, whose horrified expression was caught on camera.
It was a truly relatable moment:
Jess and Ched were eventually whisked off for a morning beach date, where they were able to frolic with penguins. In spite of the very early wake-up call, both seemed to have a good time.
"This is a good start to the day," Jess explained, with Ched agreeing: "First date – this is nice. I like the way things are going for us. I can't see anything going west at the minute."
Is it cool if you get another text at 5am, then?
