Celebrity X Factor: Simon Cowell makes shock decision to bring BACK one evicted act for the live finals after No Love Lost and Martin Bashir are sent home during VERY tense show

Simon Cowell made a shock decision to bring back one act for the live finals after No Love Lost and Martin Bashir were sent home during Saturday's Celebrity X Factor.

After judges Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh both elected to send Love Island group No Love Lost home Simon appeared to make the decision on the spot.

When quizzed over who he would send home, Simon said that although he hadn't set it in stone he wants one evicted act to be voted back onto the show before the final.

During his shock decision, Simon told No Love Lost: 'I tell you what we're going to do Dermot, no one's agreed to this but when we get to whoever's going to be in the final I'm going to put a public vote to put whoever is the most popular loser into the final.

'So even though you're out you've still got a chance of making the final. That's the way it's going to be.'

No Love Lost were up against influencer girl band V5 in the show's first sing-off as the two groups batted it out for a place in the competition.

Following the two performances Louis said it was one of the hardest decisions he has ever had to make on X Factor and said he didn't know who to pick.

After a tricky debate Louis decided to send home No Love Lost before Nicole echoed his decision and also chose to send home the band.

Before the sing-off the show also said goodbye to Martin Bashir, who received the least number of votes from the public and was immediately sent home.

As the news was revealed, Martin sweetly said: 'It's been a great experience I'm nearly 57 and would never have tried something like this!

Following Louis' hard words in earlier weeks, Martin told host Dermot O'Leary: 'I'm grateful to Simon and Nicole, a little bit less to Louis.'

Elsewhere, Try Star's Thom Evans caused a stir earlier in the show during a tense on-screen clash with judge Louis Walsh.

Following the performance Louis complemented Levi Davis' soul singing ability however he told Thom and Ben Foden that they were more like backing singers.

Clearly unhappy with Louis' comments, Thom savagely hit back and told Louis that he has been Simon Cowell's backing dancer 'for his whole life'.

Simon couldn't believe his ears as he jumped up in support of the group and began clapping wildly after Thom's quick-witted comeback.

Thanking the judges, Vinnie said: 'The phone call you gave me, I wasn't going to do it because it was too hard. But I said it was going to be an honour and it has been an honour.'

Praising his rendition, Nicole said: 'What a way to open the show, that it a hard song but you killed it. The creative was super cool but before everyone came out you were killing it on your own.'

However Simon wasn't impressed: 'The idea of this series is can we turn people into recording artists, some people are doing well but tonight you didn't do well at all.'

Following his rave reviews Louis gave Kevin his safety buzzer and Kevin took Simon's comments on the chin and said he feels honoured to receive the negative comment.
