Children In Need 2019: Viewers are left in tears over heart-warming Doctor Who segment that sees 13th Timelord Jodie Whittaker surprise young girl
Children In Need's five-hour telethon kicked off on Friday night.
And viewers were left on tears over the show's Doctor Who segment, which saw stars of the show Jodie Whittaker, Mandip Gill, and Tosin Cole surprise young girl Anastasia on stage.
Having burst into tears while speaking to co-host Tess Daly about how acting, and the charity, helped change her life and rebuild her confidence, the TV presenter, 50, asked Anastasia to look at the screen to receive a special message.

The Doctor Who cast then appeared on the big screen, as Jodie told her in character: 'Hi Anastasia, we're so sorry we're not there with you tonight but we hope you're having the most amazing evening, we're in America shooting the next series.'
Mandip then claimed: 'We really wanted to chat with you, but the signal so just bare with you.'
Tosin admitted it was 'really rubbish', and asked Jodie if she could sort it out, to which she said 'I'm the Doctor, I can do this, hang on.'
Pointing her sonic screwdriver towards the screen, it then parted in two and the trio revealed themselves to Anastasia, who screamed in delight.
Emotional: After surprising Anastasia, Jodie mirrored the little girl's delight as she ran up and hugged her, before Anastasia also hugged Mandip and Tosin

When asked what she wanted 'to say to an actual timelord', Anastasia gushed to Jodie: 'You're amazing.'
The Broadchurch star then said to her: 'Do you know what, anastasia, we have heard so much about you, and we heard you've learnt so many things at the Hackney Shed that you could probably teach us for our next season.
'But we also wanted to bring you a little something, because you look like you could be the next timelord, so you're going to need your very own sonic screwdriver. From one doctor to the next, your very own.'

Taking to Twitter to gush about the segment, one viewer said: 'THIS. THIS is why a female doctor is SO important. This is why Jodie Whittaker will always be a legend.'
While another wrote: 'On Children in Need, Jodie Whittaker just surprised a young shy girl who enjoys drama and Doctor Who. It was so lovely to see her reaction when she saw the 13th Doctor stood in front of her. I was positively beaming, as I know how I would have felt when I was little. So exciting.'
One viewer gushed: 'Jodie Whittaker and the cast of Doctor Who coming to Children In Need to surprise a fan has got me sobbing.'
Praising Jodie, another said: 'Doctor Who means so much to so many people. It always has, it always will. Those who hate on Jodie just because she's a woman have been missing the point of the show. Love is always wise. Jodie Whittaker is the best ambassador we could ask for. She's so kind and perfect for Who.'
And one continued: 'That beautiful pure baby who got surprised by the Doctor Who cast on Children In Need. Fully crying.'
