Only Fools and Horses fans have slammed a upcoming convention which is charging £375 per person to meet 'Del Boy' actor David Jason.

The actor, 79, is set to reprise his iconic role as wheeler dealer Del one last time at a three-day event celebrating the series and his career in February - but fans will have to shell out if they want to meet and have a photo with David, and get his autograph.

Organisers The Only Fools and Horses Appreciation Society's website revealed their Gold Package - which includes a photo in the Trotter Flat with Sir David and his autograph on an item of your choice - will set fans back £375.

The slightly cheaper Silver package, coming in at £255 offers the same photo op with Sir David but without the autograph - instead fans would get a 'free in person autograph from each guest actor' as one of the perks.

The most thrifty option is the £55 Bronze package which includes entry into the Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire event as well as a photo in the flat but not with David Jason.

It states on the website that 'Donations from the event will be gifted by the organisers and Sir David Jason to the charity Diabetes UK.

Fans took to social media to slam the 'totally unfair' high prices and revealed they would be missing out on the 'cash cow' event.

One wrote: 'As much as I love the guy and would love to go £255 to have a pic taken with him? I don’t think so.

Another added: '£255 to see another person...no thanks, as much as I respect him I wouldn’t pay that to see another human being...madness.'

A third slammed the event saying: 'Complete rip off people who organise these events use it as a cash cow as they know people will pay this prices, totally unfair on the poor die hard fans who can't afford those prices to meet there idol.' (sic)

One wrote: 'Well its desperate that u would have to pay £400 to see David Jason. people should be able to pay £55 and meet David Jason not £375 that’s a joke.'

Another irate fan wrote: 'Was so looking forward to this, but £255 per ticket to meet Sir David is a p**s take! Sorry but I won’t be going now.'

One fan typed: 'Extremely disappointed with the prices, I just wanted a picture with David Jason, but £255 is way to expensive, I go to comic cons in London and to get a picture with celebs range from £60-£120. Not happy.'

Others fans of the legendary show praised the convention and said they would be happy for pay for the 'priceless' experience.

One wrote: 'A chance to sit in the trotter flat with Del Boy, Priceless! A once in a lifetime experience. Considering a games console cost about £400, I know what I’d rather have for Christmas. Thanks for putting this on. Hopefully I’ll be lucky. '

A second wrote: 'Personally ladies and gents we’ve all been waiting for the ticket prices for so long I fail to see why it’s not turned into a “have a pop at the organisers” fest. At the end of the day nobody ever thought that Sir David would ever do one of these events.

'This is a chance to meet a legend who lets face it we only know from the tv screen and yet I don’t get why the cost of the tickets is such a surprise.'

A spokesman for the event told the Daily Star: 'With the costs involved in delivering such a colossal event, tickets are never going to be cheap.

'We have structured this so the best possible price is offered to the end user, whilst ensuring the charity greatly benefits from the donations by both the Society and Sir David.'

An updated statement on the site reads: 'We understand there will be disappointed fans who cannot attend for many reasons but we feel we need to stress that numbers are extremely limited to be more manageable for Sir David on the day.

'Subsequently the cost is appreciably more than if we were letting thousands through the door.'

MailOnline has contacted representatives for the event and David Jason for comment.

Sir Jason told The Daily Star: 'I am looking forward to having the opportunity to meet so many Only Fools fans. It's going to be cushty.'

It will be 'a dream' and a 'rare chance' to see Del Boy 'in the flesh', according to a source.

'There are no plans to bring back the series or do any more charity specials, so this event is a one-off chance for fans to see David back where he belongs,' they told the publication.

Sir Jason last appeared as Del Boy in a special episode of Only Fools And Horses starring David Beckham for Sport Relief in 2014.

It comes months after Only Fools And Horses made the move from Peckham to the West End when its musical adaptation premiered in February.

The show, which ran previews at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, attracted a mixed bag of reviews from critics in newspapers.

But social media reaction was mostly positive, with audience members saying it was 'absolutely fantastic' and 'impossible not to enjoy if you're a fan of the show'.

Some critics complained that too many of the songs were 'plonkers' and described it as an 'endearing but theatrically under-achieved stage-musical version'.

However, others said the show - which booked until August 31 - was a 'joyous nostalgic romp down Hooky Street' and had 'heart, wit and warmth by the bucketload'.

Created by writer John Sullivan, the original Only Fools And Horses was launched in 1981 and slowly built into a television juggernaut. One of its Christmas episodes drew more than 24.35 million viewers.

The popular BBC series won several awards such as six BAFTA Awards, seven British Comedy Awards and three National Television Awards.
