Ex-Emmerdale star Gemma Atkinson responds to calls for her return - digitalspy.com

Ex-Emmerdale actress Gemma Atkinson says it's unlikely that she'll return to the Yorkshire Dales while her baby daughter is growing up.

Gemma portrayed the character of Carly Hope for two years between 2015 and 2017, and recently, fans of the ITV soap have been making it known that they'd like to see the actress reappear at some point in the near future.

But speaking to Daily Star Sunday, the 35-year-old discussed why it's not something she's particularly interested in right now.

"I love Emmerdale. It's a great show. But going back would mean doing a commute to Leeds, doing 12 hours of filming and then going back again," she explained.

"So I wouldn't see Mia."

Gemma continued: "People keep messaging me saying I should go back to save Marlon, but I can't go back at the moment.

"I'm really enjoying my radio show at the moment. I get to work on my doorstep and it's very short hours. That means I can be at home with my daughter.

"I could maybe do a couple of episodes at Emmerdale, but I can't go back long-term."

Emmerdale currently airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
