Peter Kay has been photographed for the first time in eight months as he made a rare public appearance to attend the panto tonight.
The 48-year-old comedian posed for a picture as he attended Nativity! The Musical in London to watch the show’s final performance and flashed a grin for the camera as he stood next to creatives.
Sharing the sweet moment on Twitter, director Debbie Isitt wrote: ‘So lovely to see the brilliant comic genius Peter Kay and his lovely family @nativityuk tonight for our final show!
‘What a lovely surprise for us all!’
This heartwarming moment comes just hours after it was confirmed that Peter had ‘no involvement’ with the Channel 5 documentary Peter Kay: In His Own Words – which aired tonight.
The funnyman’s rep claimed that the two-hour programme, which celebrated the star’s life and career, has had nothing to do with the show and alleged that the title is ‘incredibly misleading’.

Sharing a statement on Peter’s official Twitter account, they wrote: ‘Very flattering of Channel 5 to commission the programme going out tonight but just to let people know that “Peter Kay: In His Own Words” has an incredibly misleading title, as it doesn’t feature any new interviews with Peter and all the footage is completely historic.’
It continued: ‘The title also gives the impression that Peter has been involved in the making of this documentary which he hasn’t. At all.’
Peter has been taking a break from the spotlight over the past 24 months after cancelling his tour at the end of 2017 over ‘unforeseen family circumstances’.
He confirmed the news on his website, apologising to those who had purchased tickets, insisting it wasn’t a decision he had taken lightly.
The statement read: ‘Due to unforeseen family circumstances I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects.
‘This unfortunately includes my upcoming stand-up tour, Dance For Life shows and any outstanding live work commitments.
‘My sincerest apologies. This decision has not been taken lightly and I’m sure you’ll understand my family must always come first.

‘I’ve always endeavoured to protect my family’s privacy from the media. I hope that the media and the public will continue to respect our privacy at this time. Once again I’m very sorry.’
