Gavin & Stacey co-creator and star Ruth Jones has defended the use of an uncensored lyric from The Pogues' 'Fairytale of New York' in the Christmas special.
The one-off episode, which aired on Christmas Day, included a scene that saw Jones' character Nessa sing the festive tune with Bryn (Rob Brydon) during a karaoke session.
It included the use of the word 'f****t', which appears in the original song, and has sparked major backlash on social media.

However, when asked whether herself and co-writer James Corden had considered there would be a backlash, Jones told The Sun: "It is a different climate. But we have to remain true to the characters, to who they were.
"Characters in Gavin & Stacey are kind and big-hearted, I believe. So I think no one is going to be intentionally hurtful. But by the same token, they're not necessarily going to be completely politically correct or be aware of political correctness."

A BBC spokesperson previously defended the decision to air the uncensored version before the episode was broadcast.
"'Fairytale of New York' is a very popular, much-loved Christmas song played widely throughout the festive season, and the lyrics are well-established with the audience," they said.
