Heartbeat actor Derek Fowlds has died at the age of 82.
He was surrounded by his family when he died and is survived by sons Jamie and Jeremy.
A statement from his family read: ‘He had died at the Royal United Hospitals Bath in the early hours of this morning after suffering from pneumonia that lead to heart failure caused by sepsis.’
Helen Bennett, his personal assistant and friend of many years commented: ‘He was the most beloved man to everybody who ever met him, he never had a bad word to say about anybody and he was so well respected, adored by everyone.’
The actor was famous for playing Bernard Woolley in popular British television comedies Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister.
From 1983 to 1985, Fowlds played the lead role in the sitcom Affairs of the Heart.

He featured in a more sinister role in the 1990 political thriller Die Kinder.
Fowlds then played Oscar Blaketon in the long-running ITV police drama Heartbeat for its entire run.
His character first appeared as the local police sergeant, then retired from the force and ran the post office before becoming a publican.
He wad also well-known for playing Mr Derek on the Basil Brush Show.
Tributes have poured in online from friends, fans and former colleagues.
