Jesy Nelson has finally thrown her support behind boyfriend Chris Hughes in the wake of his shocking National Television Awards brawl with a photographer.

Former Love Island star Chris, 27 was seen to launch a shocking attack in the early hours of Wednesday morning, after he was called 'a c**t'  when the photographer in question failed to capture a shot of Chris with Jesy, 28, leading to a fight and a subsequent police investigation.

Little Mix singer Jesy - who won an NTA for her documentary Odd One Out - showed she was publicly behind Chris by sharing a loved-up snap of the pair on the red carpet at the awards on Friday.

The snap showed the couple holding hands while striking smouldering poses for the camera, with Jesy captioning the snap with two hearts.

While Chris has apologised to Jesy on social media for the fight, Black Magic songstress Jesy has remained radio silent on the matter, sharing snaps from the evening, and failing to mention her boyfriend.

Posting a montage of snaps from the awards, captioned: 'Celebrated with all the people I love', Chris was noticeably absent.

The loved-up snap comes less than three days after Chris was filmed hitting out at a photographer outside London'a Intercontinental Hotel, when he left the hotel separately from Jesy.

In his alarming rant, Chris - formerly a farmer from Gloucestershire before finding fame on the ITV2 show in 2017 - insists: 'I'm a nice guy from the Cotswolds. I'm not a p***y, I'm not gonna bow down. I'm not a c**t', in the scenes which followed on from a reported row with Jesy over a ban on the duo doing press as a couple.

Although it is hard to gauge the initial slur in the recording, Chris kicks off the violent altercation after he was alleged to have been called 'a c**t' - in a move which seemed to strike an alarming chord with the star.

He said: 'Why am I a c**t? You don't know me. Tell me. You have no right. F**k this, you don't know me. You don't know me. Don't call someone a c**t you don't know. You don't know me, why am I?...

The reality star was then bundled into a cab while a member of Jesy's team says to fellow paparazzi: 'Sorry guys. He's drunk, leave him, leave him'.

Jesy was seen looking very unimpressed as Chris climbed into the cab, staring at the floor.

Since the row, it has been claimed that his rage stemmed from fury regarding a ban on him doing press with Jesy in a bid to protect her image.

He was reportedly angered after being told Little Mix singer Jesy would answer press questions on her own – despite the couple attending the ceremony together.

A source exclusively revealed to MailOnline: 'Chris would jump at the chance to do a red carpet interview with Jesy but they've been limited to only posing for photographs as a pair at high profile events...

'Chris was upset after it was agreed that Jesy would do interviews about her documentary on her own...

'He's been 100 per cent supportive of her journey with Odd One Out and even featured in the doc – so wasn't happy to be side-lined at the NTAs.

'Usually he understands that Jesy's work is separate to their relationship but he was told on the night that he wasn't to do chats with Jesy, which riled him.

'After their row he was pent-up and struggled to contain his frustration, which led to his outburst against the photographer.'

The morning after the fracas, Chris took to social media to apologise to his girlfriend and admitted the night 'should have been about her' and not the scrape.

Oh dear... Chris wrote on social media: 'I want to address last night's altercation. I was having an amazing night celebrating the award my girlfriend deservedly won'

He wrote on social media: 'I want to address last night's altercation. I was having an amazing night celebrating the award my girlfriend deservedly won...

'After coming out of our hotel a particular paparazzi decided to repeatedly call me a name I wouldn't call my worst enemy, and physically try and start an altercation. As everyone can see I retaliated back badly - which I regret...

'I'm human. No different to anyone else's however I want to make everyone aware this was only in self defense. I hope people I care about including my followers, family and friends can understand and forgive me.

'This night was about Jesy's win and I am sorry if I distracted anyone from this. Ultimately, I'm the proudest boyfriend ever and want to congratulate my amazing girlfriend for a deserving win. I am proud of you.'

Shortly before he released his statement, it was revealed that a police investigation has been launched.

A Met Police spokesman told MailOnline: 'We can confirm that at 03:52hrs on Wednesday, 29 January, police received a report of assault and criminal damage following an altercation between two men at Waterview Drive, Greenwich...

'The incident is reported to have taken place at a time between 23:00hrs on Tuesday, 28 January and 01:00hrs on Wednesday, 29 January. The reported criminal damage relates to photographic equipment. There were no reported injuries. There have been no arrests. Enquiries continue.'

The photographer involved told MailOnline his account of the altercation, explaining: 'I am a freelance photographer so I only earn money depending on what pictures I sell - I really wanted a picture a Chris and Jesy together.'

'However, they exited the hotel separately and I was disappointed as a picture of Chris on his own doesn't really sell. I'm sorry for the language, but I said: 'that's a c***' under my breath.

'I was referring to the situation and not to Chris. He took it the wrong way and flipped his lid. He came for me with punches and kicks. I walked away but he came back three or four times. He kept coming at me. He caused damage to my £1k camera which he kicked twice. It's now in the hands of the police.'
