EastEnders star Jasmine Armfield has quit the soap after five years.

Jasmine, who plays Martin Fowler and Sonia Jackson's daughter Bex on the BBC One soap, has reportedly already filmed her final scenes on Albert Square and will exit the series next month.

"I've had such a fantastic time playing Bex Fowler and loved being part of EastEnders but now feels like the right time to try something new," Jasmine said (via The Sun).

"I've made friends for life working on the show and shall miss them all."

The soap's executive producer Jon Sen also confirmed Jasmine's exit, saying: "It's been an absolute pleasure to work with Jasmine.

"She's brought something incredibly special to the role of Bex and we will all miss her – both as a friend and colleague. We wish her the best of luck for the future."

Jasmine featured in one of the soap's biggest storylines of 2019 as Bex attempted suicide in heartbreaking scenes.

EastEnders has also previously confirmed that the Fowler family will play a key role in the show's 35th anniversary episodes, as the soap will celebrate the milestone with a week of special episodes in February taking place on the River Thames.

"For the 35th anniversary, we wanted to entertain the EastEnders audience on the iconic river which has heralded the start of the show for 35 years," Jon Sen previously revealed.

"This unmissable week of episodes is destined to be exciting, gripping and heart-breaking – it will be a week that will go down in EastEnders history."

EastEnders continues on Tuesday (January 28) at 7.30pm on BBC One.
