Death in Paradise has bid a sad farewell to Ardal O'Hanlon as DI Jack Mooney has officially left Honoré after three years with the Saint Marie PD.
There had been hints from the series 9 premiere that Jack would be leaving the show with his new love interest Anna (Nina Wadia), and last week (January 23) left off with Jack facing a huge decision as Anna invited him to join her on her travels.
But the series had one more big surprise for viewers, as Jack didn't leave to travel with Anna after all – he left the island to return home to London with his daughter Siobhan instead.
Earlier in the episode, Siobhan arrived on the island to spend some time with her dad and meet his new girlfriend after finishing university, and she shared her plans to move back to London as she was about to start a new job in publishing.
And it looked like Siobhan's plans to return to their London home was just the push he needed to make his decision, as Jack later decided that he wouldn't be joining Anna on her trip.

"I finally worked it out," Jack told Anna. "Losing Kathleen, that was only part of the grieving process. When she died, I lost the rest of my life too.
"My life is back there in London, my house is sitting there empty – that's my home. and now Siobhan is going back. Back to our home.
"So gallivanting around the world with you – as amazing as that would be, and I know it would be amazing – that would be me just running away again, and I've done enough running. I'm going home."
Decision made, Jack made quick work of solving this week's murder and said goodbye to his friends and colleagues on the island.
"I won't be going travelling," he confirmed to Commissioner Selwyn. "But I will be leaving Saint Marie."
"You're going home," Selwyn noted. "You came to us a virtual stranger, but please know you'll leave with the respect and affection of the whole island. You'll be greatly missed."
And with a final request to Harry that he take care of the "next one", Jack and Siobhan drove to the airport and caught a flight home.
With Jack gone, the stage is now set for the island's next detective to come in and take his place, and The Royle Family star Ralf Little is ready and waiting to step onto the scenes.
Detective Inspector Neville Parker will be dispatched to the island of Saint Marie to investigate the mysterious death of a woman from his hometown of Manchester and will make his debut in next week's episode.
"It took less than 0.005 seconds to say yes to playing the new DI! How could I not?" the actor previously said in a statement.
"Ardal has been wonderful in the last few series and to follow in his footsteps in a place as idyllic as Guadeloupe was a great honour and a dream come true. It is a joy to play Neville and I can't wait for viewers to see him in Paradise this series."
Death in Paradise continues next Thursday (February 6) at 9pm on BBC One.
