Harry Hains, who starred in American Horror Story and OA, has died aged 27.
His mother, actress Jane Badler, confirmed his death on Instagram, writing: "On Jan 7 my beautiful son died. He was 27 and had the world at his feet. But sadly he struggled with mental illness and addiction.
"A brilliant spark shone bright too short a time... I will miss you Harry every day of my life..."
She posted several images of her son with the tribute, including a family shot showing Harry and his brother Sam.
The Australian actor, model and musician had shared a post on his Instagram page just days before his death, writing: "O 2020!×××The NEW ERA has already begun"
He went on: "So let's all keep only moving forward, staying so present to enjoy each & every moment throughout this beautiful new BEGINNING - HAPPY N3W YEAR peeeeps So much love & gratitude for all in my life".
His final post was accompanied with a picture of himself sitting with a friend on a night out.
Hains starred in the film The Surface back in 2015, before appearing in American Horror Story: Hotel the same year.
He had also appeared in both seasons of Netflix original The OA.
Performing under the name ANTIBOY, Hains was working on his debut electronic rock album, A Glitch In Paradise.
Hains, who grew up in Melbourne, said he identified as gender fluid in an interview with fashion magazine Boys By Girls magazine last year.
In the same interview he said he'd suffered from severe insomnia as a child, which he said "left me with my own kind of issues that were then self-inflicted and self-destructive".
He was due to begin work on mini-series Xtra Life according to the last entries on his IMDB page.
A service will be held at Hollywood Forever in LA to celebrate Hains' life.
