Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William were believed to have been shocked when Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, revealed their intention to step back from the Royal Family. Now, the conditions for their departure have been set and the couple is preparing to leave this Spring. But according to royal sources, Kate and William are still in a state of shock at the news.
Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, was left out of royal crisis talks held at Sandringham in the wake of the Sussex announcement.
The Queen invited Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry to participate in these talks about the future roles for the Sussexes, but Meghan and Kate were not invited to join.
In the wake of those discussions, the Queen announced the Royal Family supported the couple’s decision but would have “preferred” them to stay on in their roles.
Last weekend, the conditions for the royal exit were revealed outlining that the couple would no longer be permitted to conduct royal duties, receive public funds for their work or use their HRH titles.

After these conditions were shared by Buckingham Palace, Prince Harry spoke out about the decision made by himself and Meghan for the first time.
During a private reception in central London for charity Sentebale, Prince Harry said he is “taking a leap of faith” in stepping back, adding he felt “there really was no other option”.
Harry also said he had found “the love and happiness” he had always wanted with Meghan and they were “not walking away”.
But according to royal sources, the Royal Family is still upset with the news.
Ms Nicholl added the Cambridge couple were surprised by the turn of events and could be in shock for a while.
She said: “Both of them are still reeling from the news, coming to terms with the reality of this situation.”
Prince Harry undertook some royal duties earlier this week, before he made his way to Canada to be with his wife and son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
According to sources, before Harry left, he patched up his relationship with William.
A source told The Sun: “William and Harry have spent time together privately away from the official Sandringham Summit working on their relationship and discussing their future.
“It has been ground-breaking in terms of saving their bond as brothers and has been totally driven by them.”
The royal source added: “It’s fair to say that the past week has brought William and Harry back together but the relationship with Charles and Camilla is far more complicated and complex.
“There remains a real lack of trust there and it’s going to take some time to resolve.”
But sadly, Prince Harry’s relationship with his father is said to be very tense since his shock announcement.
Prince Harry has reportedly been a peace-keeper between Prince William and Prince Charles for several years.
Which means with Harry’s departure, Prince Charles could be facing distancing in his relationship with both his sons.
