'We are in constant contact': Love Island bosses confirm 'the door is open' for Caroline Flack to return as host amid assault charge
Love Island bosses have confirmed the 'door is still open' for embattled host Caroline Flack to return to the show amid her assault charge.
Show runner Amanda Stavri revealed producers are in 'constant contact' with the media personality, 40, as she holidays in Los Angeles during her break from her work schedule.
Caroline's industry pal Laura Whitmore was announced as the TV star's replacement last month, just days after she stood down from presenting the winter series following a fight with her boyfriend Lewis Burton, 27.

Love Island commissioning editor Amanda told The Mirror: 'We are continuing to talk to Caroline. We are in constant contact and the door is open.'
Rumours surrounding the ITV star's status on the show first hit headlines when a source told MailOnline last month: 'ITV has a long standing relationship with Caroline and we understand and accept her decision. We will remain in contact with her'
Caroline appeared in court over the incident with her beau in December - where a judge heard she hit the former tennis player over the head with a lamp while he slept - days after news of her replacement broke.
The court was told she read texts on Lewis' phone that made her think he was cheating on her before the alleged attack.

On Thursday, Laura revealed Caroline wanted her to take over as the host of Love Island, and got in touch just hours after deciding to step down.
Speaking in her first TV interview since landing the coveted gig, the Irish presenter, 34, said Caroline sent her a text saying she hoped she would take over, after she decided to step down in the wake of her arrest for assault.
Laura also said on This Morning it's been a 'whirlwind' few weeks since she got the job, as she prepares for her hosting debut for the new winter series on Sunday.
Speaking live from the new villa in Cape Town, the former T4 star told Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby that Caroline quickly got in touch after announcing she would be stepping down as host.

Describing the build-up to officially being offered the job, she recalled: 'It was a little bit of a whirlwind, when Caroline stepped down she sent me a text saying ''I really hope you get to do the series,'' but the speculation I knew as everyone else knows.
'I was at the airport flying back to Ireland before Xmas for my mum's birthday and I got a call from my agent saying ''ITV want to meet with you for a few hours''.
'I rang up mummy Whitmore and said how do you feel like me going tomorrow she said that's fine and that is why I am here now.'

Describing the hectic build-up to the new series, Laura told Phil and Holly: 'I had to get a cab back to my house and then go to the meeting, it's really been 2-3 weeks it's all been a bit whirlwind but I'm a massive fan of the show.
'I've been running around in the bedrooms and all the little hideaways and have to remember I need to host and not be a fan.'
Laura is of course dating Love Island's hilarious voiceover Iain Stirling, and despite assumptions that the pair would be enjoying the lengthy getaway to South Africa, the star said this is far from the case.
Exciting: She said: 'When Caroline stepped down she sent me a text saying ''I really hope you get to do the series,'' but the speculation I knew as everyone else knows'
She said: 'So far I have not see him, so if anyone has seen Iain let me know! I think he is due to arrive today, so I'll have to make do with the villa.
'Aftersun is filmed in London and we need Iain here to do the voiceover every single day, so I said I'll take one for the team and host Aftersun.
'It's a little bit further than Mallorca it's quite a long trek, luckily there's not too much of a time difference, but I'm going to plant a lot of trees to make up for my carbon footprint.'
Fun: Laura also said that despite her boyfriend Iain Stirling working on the show as its voiceover, she is yet to see him since arriving in South Africa
Laura also told Phil and Holly she's yet to meet any of this year's Islanders, so she hasn't picked out anybody as her favourite.
She said: 'Well I saw there Ollie he's got a bit of land and I like a man with a bit of land!
'I am so excited about the Islanders, I've met no on year I've only seen what the public have seen, I don't really have a favourite just yet I think I'll wait until the interaction.'

Phil and Holly also decided to ask Laura about her first date with boyfriend Iain, given it was a question all of this year's Islanders had been asked ahead of the new series.
Laughing she said: 'I feel like I should've cleared this with Iain but since you guys are here, my first date with Iain he bought me to a comedy gig, sat in a dark room not facing each other watching his friend perform.
'He was wearing this backpack and I thought he'd come from school, but it turns out he'd been working all day and was sweating, so he bought a new outfit and put his old clothes in his backpack.
'At the end of the date he said ''oh we should've went for a drink shouldn't we?'''
It's nearly time! Laura has been eagerly documenting her preparations for the new series of Love Island, and on Wednesday she posted a snap of her first script for the new series
