I'm a Celebrity has taught viewers an extremely valuable lesson: always chew your camel filet before swallowing.

That's a lesson that campmate Andrew Maxwell learned first-hand in Friday's highlights show (November 22) when a bit of camel got lodged in his throat, causing him to momentarily choke while the other campers looked on helplessly.

The scary incident took place at Snake Rock, after Jacqueline Jossa and Myles Stephenson had won a full meal for the camp in the Snake Hotel trial and were then promptly banished to the jailhouse.

The Snake Rock crew still had reason to celebrate when camp chef Myles volunteered to whip up their meal of camel fillet, purple congos, karkalia and asparagus with bananas.

However, comedian Andrew was so hungry that he didn't properly chew a hunk of camel filet and ended up choking in front of his fellow campers!

Kate Garraway and Andy Whyment actually had to pat Andrew on the back while he was choking to dislodge the meat, while Jacqueline rushed to get water so he could clear his throat.

When he finally spat out the meat, Myles was relieved: "Chew your food, mate you scared us."

As the campers were checking on Andrew, Kate admitted she was very concerned that he'd gone "bright red", while new arrival Cliff Parisi suggested he could pre-chew all of the comic's food.

"A meat chewer would be great," Andrew chuckled.

"I can chew your meat anytime you need," Kate then offered, before catching herself as everyone laughed: "I didn't mean it like that!"

Snake Rock chef Myles was still shaken by the whole experience, sighing: "I can't believe I nearly killed Andrew Maxwell."

"You didn't, I nearly killed me," Andrew assured him, adding: "Let that be a lesson to you, kids – chew your camel."

A truly important life lesson!
