EMBATTLED Prince Andrew "hoodwinked" the Queen over his car-crash BBC interview, royal aides claim.
The Duke of York, 59, has been embroiled in scandal since the controversial interview with Emily Maitlis over his relationship with paedo Jeffrey Epstein.

He has been sacked by the Queen was stripped of his royal duties and £249,000 sovereign grant after stepping down from royal duties on Wednesday.
She is now said to be "aggrieved" by claims she had approved the interview, which has seen Andrew blasted for his "lack of empathy" for Epstein's alleged victims.
One source told The Sunday Times the Queen is "privately supportive" of her favourite son Andrew - but also "deeply frustrated".
There is also said to be a feeling among royal circles the monarch was "hoodwinked" by her son - with plans now in place to cancel a 60th birthday bash for Andrew.
ROYAL SCANDAL
A source added: "The Queen did not give her approval. The fact that notion has somehow been put about has aggrieved people in the [royal] households.
"Andrew had a son-to-mother conversation, letting her know that he was planning to address the controversy, but without going into any details.
"What should have happened was the full palace process."
Andrew has been accused of sensational claims he bedded a 17-year-old, which he denies, and has faced mounting criticism for his friendship with the disgraced tycoon.
'ABSOLUTELY FINISHED'
The Queen is understood to have come to the decision to sack him after consulting Prince Charles - the next in line to the throne.
He will conduct no royal or public duties and will step back from all patronages. He will keep his military titles but not take part in any events, Buckingham Palace confirmed.
Andrew is also said to want his daughters Beatrice and Eugenie to take over his patronage roles.
But the "naively positive" duke is reportedly already plotting his comeback - despite Charles wanting his brother permanently retired.
Royal biographer Penny Junor has said Andrew is "absolutely finished" after the interview and subsequent fallout.
She added: "If Andrew is no longer representing or supporting the monarch in any capacity, or doing good charitably, what's the point of him?"
CAR-CRASH INTERVIEW
Andrew is believed to be unaware of the worldwide outrage sparked by his interview with Emily Maitlis, shown on BBC2 last Saturday night.
Viewers were especially angry over his lack of sympathy for the victims of Epstein, his former friend who died in August awaiting trial for sex trafficking.
He was also ridiculed over his repeated denials of any sexual relationship with then 17-year-old Virginia Roberts.
As the scandal continues to swirl around Andrew, more members of the royal family appear to be distancing themselves.
Meghan Markle is said to be "troubled" by the interview as a feminist who regularly campaigns for women's rights.
She had reportedly taken issue with her husband's uncle remark claiming "if you’re a man it is a positive act to have sex with somebody".
And Andrew's nephew, Prince William, was also involved in the bombshell decision between Charles and the Queen to force the duke to step down from royal duties, the newspaper reports.
The Duke of Cambridge is understood not be the biggest fan of his uncle Andrew and believes his sacking was the "right thing to do".
Andrew's ex-wife Sarah Ferguson had offered her full support to the duke ahead of the interview - praising him as "this giant of a principled man".

In a show of support, the Queen stood by her “favourite son” this week as they attended church on the Windsor estate where they live.
She is also now planning what to say in her Christmas speech next month to round up a turbulent year for the royal family.
