New research has revealed how much each contestant on this year's I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! can charge for a sponsored Instagram post.
Digital marketing agency AGY47 has analysed the contestants’ Instagram follower growth over the course of the show. To date, fan favourite Roman Kemp has gained an additional 322,537 Instagram followers in just 18 days, bringing his total to 543k.
Roman’s jump in followers puts the total value of one of his sponsored Instagram posts at £2,717.92 — more than double the £1,105.29 he was able to charge at the start of the show.
Reportedly paid £40,000 for his stint in the jungle, he would need to bag just 15 sponsored posts after the show to make his fee again.
Former Eastenders star Jacqueline Jossa is also set to earn big on Instagram. With 215,575 additional followers, Jacqueline has added £1,077.88 to the price of one of her sponsored posts, taking her pricing from £8,027.92 to £9,105.79. With just nine sponsored posts after the show, she could earn more than her reported £75,000 fee.
Going into the jungle, Caitlyn Jenner had the most Instagram followers of all contestants at 9,664,087. Her follower count has grown by 197,514 since entering the jungle and while she could already command £ 47,332.87 per post, she can up that to £ 48,320.44 for any future posts.
Other big winners from the 2019 series include former Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle, who has added £507.27 to the cost of a sponsored post, bringing the cost to £2,373.72.
Despite being reportedly paid the least of all of this year’s celebrity contestants, Rak-Su singer Myles Stephenson can top up his earnings as an Instagram influencer. With 119,210 more followers, he can now charge an extra £596.05 per post, bringing the total cost to £2,373.72.
At the other end of the scale, football pundit Ian Wright has added 55,918 followers to his Instagram account, which equates to an extra £279.59 per post. Marginal in comparison to other contestants’ growth, luckily Ian has his reported £400,000 fee to make up the difference!
The estimated costs per post were calculated using an average value per follower of 0.005p, based on influencer information from Inkifi. Of course, when negotiating a price per post, other factors will likely be considered, such as engagement rate, meaning the celebrities could rake in even more.
Speaking of the results, AGY47’s Senior Content and Digital PR Manager Bethanie Dennis commented: “As our data shows, reality TV shows are no longer seen as the end of a celebrity’s career. Rather, it can open new doors for contestants, especially when you consider the opportunities now offered by social media.
For brands, working with celebrities who are at the forefront of the public consciousness has obvious benefits for both parties. In the week’s following the show, it will be interesting to see what new influencer partnerships will form.”
